New Trends in Content tech
Techs with wide content impact are generally those that thrive at the confluence of trend areas
Watching the landscape. A sea of paths.
If a tech area meets the following criteria and survives to guide content directions then it is of note.
Does a particular technology area have revolutionary impact and an ability to affect the ecosystem of libraries?
Is it also a tool of firm application to libraries?
Every tech direction with impact on expectation is a gateway
Tech areas
Flipboard meets these criteria. - Can be looked to for directions in content tech.
Pinterest meets these criteria. Pinterest fosters self curation and visual organization along with collaborative facilitation.
Instagram meets these.Aereo meet these. The iPad mini meets these.Last week's news of Facebook Home meets these.Wearable tech meets these: smart watches.Google Glass meets these.

We are still going uphill. And yet it is all downhill from here. (And remember - it is harder to park on a hill - keep driving).
Sometimes the signs are there ... but are not clear
The Content tech Landscape is not a grid
... it is a horizon, partially visible
Some tech approaches are mistakes
Some techs areas are bridges
We update what may matter
because one day it will matter
Ongoing tech updates are to be suffered. But it is not enough to suffer. They must be felt. Lived.
We sometimes need to acknowledge that the story has ended.
Priorities of a past environment. Technology lives in a context.
This is not a now issue. It is an always issue. Yet this is always about the now. For “forever on” gadgets to forever on innovators.
Not all new content tech has a serious pow factor
It is about experience.Mobile, real time, on location.
That is Instagram's strength.
Visual community storytelling.
Like libraries: Instagram is about generating and sharing stories.
Like content: Instagram is about digital messages
from the real world. Or was it vice versa?
Instagram and Facebook is content
telling a story ... about content's
story
Knowing what is in the spotlight? And what has already moved off stage?
What a difference maturation makes
Flipboard update helps to finds its
stride
Brings social streams and the entirety of the Facebook ecosystem includiinh its tendrils into resources at a primary view
Good (traditional) intentions cannot
turn a broken escalator into
"temporary stairs."
The 2nd screen experience is a norm
The 2nd screen in the same device is novel
in the end what gets us there is the ability to embrace
