Many of you attended the bi-annual Auxiliary Membership Dinner Meeting in early June. It was a great evening with an excellent meal, beautiful spring decorations, encouraging words from our guest speakers and meaningful fellowship. Small groups gathered to visit, while others mingled from table to table greeting old friends or making new ones. As I reflect on that evening, I am overwhelmed by the dedication and commitment obvious that evening, and that I continually witness, as I make my way through this presidency experience. Webster defines commitment as “a pledge or promise to do something”. Dedication is defined as “wholehearted devotion”. As is customary at our June membership meetings, those who have reached milestones in volunteer hours accumulated are recognized and honored. Those having become

life members are recognized and honored, as well as past presidents. Each of those individuals has made a commitment – a promise – to give of their time, energy and talents to further the mission of the Auxiliary. And each has followed that commitment with dedication – devotion – to that mission as they continue to serve or support Memorial Hospital. Whether you were one of those recognized on that early June evening, whether you have volunteered five hours, 5,000 hours or 15,000 hours, I personally recognize and honor YOU for the commitment and dedication you have made to the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. May you enjoy the remainder of your summer doing the things you love with those you love.
