scenario of Mumbai- need to stand alone + complement each other- create a sense of continuity- design for the future (vibrant/trendy) but retain or re-
appropriate from present/past- should primarily have to blend with its surrounding
architecture/landscape- should elicit a “wow!” from the onlooker- should not be overpowering or loud such that the design
subtly brings out its presence- unique across the spectrum of concessional allocated
footprint- choose clean, contemporary, and timeless furniture to avoid

- create standard (predictable) locations with modular components to promote ease of maintenance and interchangeability
- mumbai's climate falls into two main seasons: the monsoon and summer, thereby the street furniture has to withstand the dry dusty and the heavy rainy environments
- a safe service ladder should be used to access the signage systems
- high quality/durable/longevity, a minimum product life of 6 years
- should be strong, vandal proof and firmly rooted to the ground
- the design should not encourage settlement of any types of dust/ rain water on its surface
- the selected material/finishes should not entertain any types of corrosion
- ensure ease of maintenance- the street furniture and signage system should be well
insulated- mumbai having its presence close to the sea would have
excessive salinity in the air, care should be taken in the selection of materials-non corrosive
- damaged elements should be easily repairable/ replaceable

concept note
Mumbai is the city of aspirations, where people come to make a life out of their otherwise dreary existences. People dream big and high in his city, and with the conviction that outsiders call the “Spirit of Mumbai”, they achieve their dreams. It is India’s New York City, it is the land of opportunity and hope. No matter how over populated this city is people never stop to pour in from all sides of the world. From a small vendor to a struggling actress this city never fails to provide shelter and support to anyone who comes here. It is where a small time actor in an unknown TV show becomes the biggest superstar of Bollywood. It is where a garment wholesaler set up one of the biggest businesses houses in the world. It is where a nobody becomes a somebody. From the high rise concrete jungles of Kandevali to the padas of Borivali apart from all the differences there is one thing that binds the people of the Mumbai suburbs in one loop - The fire within them to achieve their goals, the hope to be the best and the courage to aspire. To reflect this attitude of its people, our designs of street furniture for Zone 7 are themed “Aspire”.
The elements of the furniture will imbibe a sense of motion, speed, direction, and ascent. The designs are sleek and futuristic at the same time easy to manufacture, install and maintain.
