Multiplying Decimals with Visual Models
5.NBT.7
Common Core Standard: 5.NBT.7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value
Teacher Directions This can be used as a center activity or two separate activities. Print task cards on heavy card stock, cut them apart, and laminate for best results and longer use. Students will use their knowledge of multiplying and dividing decimals with visual models. There are 3 types of questions in each set: • a visual model is provided and students create the
matching equation • an equation is provided and students create a visual model
to match • word problems are given and students will use the
standard algorithm to solve.
Write an equation to match the model. Write an equation to match the model.
