“Kaleigh Victor, a Rutherford County 4-H’er, competed and placed 1st in the Activewear category at the 2016 4-H Regional Fashion Show at the TN State Fair. She was awarded a scholarship from O’More College of Design, in Franklin, to attend a week long art camp of her choice. Kaleigh chose “Drawing Food Art” as her week long class. Recently, in August, her artwork was displayed at O’More College of Design during the City of Franklin Art Crawl Event that several hundred people attend. This was a great opportunity for Kaleigh to experience.”

The Homeschool 4-H Club is open to students in grades 4th - 12th. The first

4-H Homeschool Club “Cierra Williams, a recent high school graduated and a Rutherford County 4-H’er, won two scholarships at the 4-H State Roundup in Knoxville, TN. She won the African American Scholarship ($300) and the Mary Basigner-Elliott Scholarship ($1,500). We are proud of Cierra and her accomplishments and wish her the best of luck in her college endeavours”!

TN AgrAbility Project/UT Gardens Veterans Horticultural Therapy Workshop

Date: Friday, September 22, 2017 Time: 8:30a.m.—3:00p.m. Location: Honor 22 Farms 413 Rutherford Ln, Columbia, TN This 6-hour workshop is designed for current military personnel and veterans. Research shows that exposure to nature and gardening improves mental health outcomes for veterans. This workshop will explore the following: 1.) Career options for veterans and opportunities to learn about how TN AgrAbility Project can assist veterans. 2.) Hands-on gardening/horticulture activities that can help assist veterans when starting a career in horticulture/agriculture. 3.) Opportunities to network with other veterans with similar interests. FRENCH TOAST RECIPE

Makes 8 Servings Ingredients:

Serving Size: 1 slice * 4 eggs, beaten *1/2 tsp vanilla * 1 tbsp. margarine *1 cup skim milk *8 slices of whole wheat bread (day old bread is easier to use) * 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon Directions: 1.) in a large bowl, beat eggs, and add milk, cinnamon and vanilla. 2.) Melt margarine in a large skillet on medium-high heat. 3.) Dip one slice of bread at a time in the egg mixture to coat both sides. 4.) Place in a hot skillet. Brown each side, about 2 minutes or more. 5.) Serve the toast with pancake syrup, fruit sauce or applesauce. Nutrition information, Per Serving FRENCH TOAST: Calories: 130, Total Fat: 5g, Saturated Fat: 1.5g, Protein: 7g, Total Carbohydrate: 15g, Dietary Fiber: 2g, Sodium: 210mg

Regional Horse Show this year.
