• Population and economic growth means that the U.S. domestic transportation system needs to improve freight rail intermodal corridors.
• DOT analysis has shown that on average, Americans require our freight system to move between 40 and 63 tons of freight per person annually.1
– By 2025– 21 million more people2 –about 1 billion tons of freight
– By 2040– 53 million more people2 –over 2 billion more tons of freight
