Priority themes of sustainable development (WSSD, Johannesburg, 2002):
PSC development (final) objectives
1.Translate the goals of the PSC into concrete innovative activities and reciprocal projects, with the potential to generate knowledge, impact and empowerment; as building bricks for sector strategies and inputs for policyinfluencing.
2. Mobilising organisations and institutions (government, civil society, academic sector, private sector) in the partner countries for renewal and reinforcement of multi-stakeholder alliances for sustainable development, with the National Mechanisms as important platforms.
3. Contribute to sustainable development and poverty reduction, taking into account the economic, environmental and social dimensions.
4. Explore the potential of PSC as concept to promote international commitments and mutual cooperation for sustainable development; and as channel for “North → South-South” development cooperation and funding.

It takes time!... It is not a short term process!
• Time for partners to get to know eachother and meet in regular basis (means time and $)
• Time for results and impacts
• Time for upscaling
• Time for strengthening reciprocity (and $)
Other key factors
• Coordination and monitoring is crucial
• Role of Secretariat and National Mechanisms
• Establishment and follow up of principles (equality, reciprocity and participation)
• Well defined procedures and rules
• Challenge of efective communications!! (but it is not a language problem!)
The future…
• Include other countries / networks• Add to South‐south‐north focus
