What is an MDIO?

A formal structure, recognised by RI, for disseminating information and facilitating communication between Rotaract clubs in the districts concerned

It has no decision making or legislative powers, except for decisions concerning the activities of the MDIO itself

What is an MDIO?

Information flow between districts could include: Publication of a newsletter Website Egroup(s) – eg formalising asiapacrac A directory of all the clubs in participating

districts Committees which educate about Rotaract

and Rotary programs and activities

What are the benefits of an MDIO? An official structure recognised by RI Ongoing agreement between districts; does

not have to be renewed annually like the sister pacts

Official communication channels between the districts involved

Enables the pooling of resources and knowledge for the gain of all districts concerned

What are the benefits of an MDIO?Specific to the Asia Pacific Region: As the official meeting of the Asia Pacific

MDIO, the APRRC would become formally recognised by RI, and the process of organising it would be formalised

We can create a central repository for our shared resources, and ensure they are translated into the languages commonly used in our region

How do you form an MDIO?

Create a working party of current DRRs and DRREs, and advisers (PDRRs & Rotarians)

Select one of the working party members to be the team leader to drive the process

Ensure all working party members have copies of the Sample Guidelines for MDIOs and the sample ballot and approval forms provided by RI

How do you form an MDIO?

Working party to determine the scope of the MDIO; what information will it provide, and how?

Once Guidelines and By-Laws have been developed by the working party, set a deadline for districts to agree to seek approval

DRRs to seek approval of their clubs and DGs to join the MDIO

How do you form an MDIO?

Completed approval forms to be returned to the team leader

Team leader submits Guidelines, By-Laws, and completed approval forms along with a covering letter explaining why the districts wish to form a new MDIO to RI
