MUIRFIELD MATTERS Issue 8—October 2014
As another summer comes to a close Muirfield bears witness to further change. An exci ng last couple of months beckons a prosperous future for the company as it enters its new Financial Year in November. With the introduc on of Richard Gallacher as Chief Execu ve Officer in July, a new style has been, and con nues to be ins lled in the company. Fundamental changes across the board and systema cally will develop the company into a truly na onal compe tor, a goal we con nue to strive for and will achieve in me.
Message from Owner—John Stodart This summer has been par cularly ac ve for Muirfield. A significant change in management was essen al for the con nua on of Muirfield as a na onal compe tor in contrac ng, and for our brand and exper se to expand into new areas. I congratulate you on your work this year, and ask you to con nue in this vein. Your hard work is well received and greatly appreciated.

A Word from our Chief Execu ve
Message from Chief Execu ve – Richard Gallacher Firstly I would like to thank all staff members that I have met so far for their warm welcomes. It has been approximately 17 weeks since I began at Muirfield so to those that I have had the opportunity of si ng down with, and those I have not, I look forward to knowing you all be er in the future. Having not previously been familiar with ‘Muirfield Contracts’ I was unsure of what to expect. I can say with‐out reserve that I see a great deal of poten al for this company. Some considerable effort and devel‐opment is necessary to achieve our goal , but with me and the right systems in place we will succeed in be‐coming a na onally recognised contractor. There are a number of key areas needing to be addressed two of which are described below:‐
Opera onal Delivery Our opera onal delivery must be improved, with greater emphasis on efficiency, working to programme, and effec ve communica on with the client. We are severely hampered by poor communica on throughout the company which is essen al for successful opera onal delivery. Systems will be introduced throughout the course of the next year to improve the situa on.
Commercial Control Our commercial approach and systems must be improved. This will have a significant affect on the company’s commercial performance. We will ins gate controls which will give us the ability to predict more accurately performance and cash flow, something we currently poor at. And again, honest communica on is absolutely necessary to achieve the desired results . Support and training will be given to ins gate these changes, programmes of which will be distributed at the appropriate me. I look forwards to the new Financial Year and hope that together we can work together to achieve the success this company is capable of, and I would like to thank you all for all your hard work and effort some mes in trying condi ons.
