    DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

It’s About Getting to the TruthA major event in the UFO Community happened recently when several Depart-ment of Defense and Intelligence community insiders did a live broadcast to announce that not only are UFOs real, but the technology they are displaying is something we should try to understand and engineer for our own advancement as humans. Something I have been saying for many years now. Most of them are now retired, and knowing what they know from their former positions in government and the intelligence community, want to see this information come to light and be used for the good of all and the advancement of our civilization.

    I was pleased to see Dr. Hal Putoff and Chris Mellon, two men I know personally, involved in this new venture titled “To The Stars… Academy of Arts and Science.” The team members include;

Tom Delonge – CEO & Founder

Jim Semivan – Former Central Intelligence Agency senior member

Dr. Hal Putoff – President and CEO of EarthTech International, Inc. (ETI)

Steve Justice – Former Program Director for Lockheed Martin Advanced Systems

Luis Elizondo – Former intelligence agent last responsible for threat identification fo-cusing on unidentified aerial technologies.

Chris Mellon – Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in the Clinton and Bush Administrations.

I had the opportunity to speak with Chris after the presentation to better understand the purpose behind the new venture. His

answer, in short, was to get to the Truth. Chris is very forthright and firm in his resolve to get to the bottom of the UFO question regardless of where the truth leads. Having worked on Capitol Hill he wants to keep it simple by focusing on one case which he outlines in the video of the Live event. The link is to the right. It is the 2004 Nimitz encounter with an unknown object off the coast of San Diego, CA.

I see this as a major step forward with the DOD-Government-Intelligence community finally telling the American public that UFOs are Real, and the technology so advanced that if we can find a way to duplicate it, we will advance our civilization centuries in a very short period of time. Pretty exciting stuff!

The Call to Action for each of us is to write our Congressmen and Senators and ask for a inquiry regarding the Nimitz incident. By doing so, it may open the floodgates that will finally drain this swamp. I certainly hope so. My letters are in the mail. l

    UFO TRAFFIC REPORT

Worldwide news on the latest eyewitness testimonyCases of interest are pulled daily from the MUFON witness database. Most reports are not yet investigated.

Final investigation reports may resolve cases as something natural or manmade. Witness testimony is edited for clarity.

More detailed reports at our website.

Witness says cloaking ‘UFO’ had USAF insignia

    Witness Illustration 1. (Credit: MUFON)

A California witness at Moorpark reported watching an odd object with cloaking abilities with the words “USAF 003” on its tail stabilizer, according to testimony in Case 84601.

The witness was sitting in a restaurant drive-thru lane at 11:24 a.m. on June 25, 2017, when the incident occurred.

“Looking right at it, my eyes hurt to look at it,” the witness stated. “It is using some kind of neural confusion. It was like trying to look at a needle coming at your eye. It gave off some type of electrical interference, and seemed to rotate radially even though it was stationary. It looked big enough to hold one or two people.”

The witness stated that there were letters and numbers on the object that were readable.

“I could see very clearly on the tail stabilizer, USAF 003, in white paint. There were bright, silver fixtures and they had solid beacon lights that were white. The tail moved independent of the fuselage. There was a cockpit windscreen/canopy. It was non-reflec-tive, silver material, that had a very odd indentation. It looked like a cook-ie sheet with a larger section around it to extend it, like a top hat.”

The witness seemed to think that the object was cloaking itself.

“The electrical interference seemed to pick up. It disturbed another one just like it in formation next to it and I could see an illusion effect and then nothing as the cloak reengaged and they were gone. There was an inau-dible, pulse-like concussion as well. I said, ‘holy (blank)’ and it went over the microphone to the drive-thru guy, and he said, ‘hold on.’ And it defi-nitely changed the electromagnetism around us. Something felt off. The air was empty. It felt like a rug had been pulled out from underneath the air. It’s hard to explain. They were about 400 feet above the 118 overpass in Moorpark, California. I swear by this statement and its truth. The metal looked old, and was matte-like. It did not pick up light like high gloss paint. I’ve been going through books since I came home. It’s good to know it’s us

    that has this stuff.”

The witness included three illustra-tions with the report, which was filed on June 25, 2017. California MUFON Field Investigator Rick Browman investigated this case and closed it as Information Only. Moorpark is a city in Ventura County in Southern Cali-fornia, population 34,421.

Witness can’t identify Pikes Peak lights

    Witness Illustration 1. (Credit: MUFON)

A Colorado witness at Colorado Springs reported watching two stationary, star-like lights appear and disappear at about the 10,000-foot level of Pikes Peak, according to testimony in Case 85284.

The witness was sitting outside on an apartment balcony facing Pikes Peak after sunset about 9:25 p.m. on July 22, 2017.

“From a distance of approximately two miles on a clear night, I observed with my naked eye a star-like, stationary light appear at approximately 10,000 feet in the mountain range just north

  • THE MUFON JOURNAL | 7

of Pikes Peak,” the witness stated. “I estimate this height knowing that Pikes Peak is slightly over 14,000 feet high. The light lasted approximately five seconds and simply disappeared.”

As the witness continued to watch, the light appeared again in the exact same spot about one minute later for the same duration.

“I grabbed my binoculars and fixed on that spot. About 30 seconds later it appeared again in my binocular view in the same spot, but was followed about two seconds later by a dimmer, star-like light appearing at its 8 o’clock position (from my line of sight). And I estimate the distance between the two lights to be approximately 100 yards. This dimmer light disappeared after two seconds and the first light disap-peared after three more seconds. The lights did not reappear.”

The witness is a member of Colorado MUFON.

“I checked Colorado MUFON active flight tracker and saw no air traffic in the area. I know firsthand from living here, there are no roads in the mountains in that area at that height, so I can confidently state it was not vehicle traffic. Also, it wouldn’t have been that bright from that distance, nor was it moving. It also was at least thousands of feet above any houses below on the mountain hillside. The first light was bigger and brighter than the planet Venus at its best brightness. I am reporting this because living here and being familiar with the air traffic around the mountain day and night, what I saw did not make sense. I took an existing daytime picture of Pikes Peak and marked it with the location of the lights. It is attached to this report.”

Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in North America.

Colorado MUFON Field Investigator Randolph Eichelberg investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.

Hovering triangle shoots orbs to ground level

The witness watched an object ‘the size of a house’ move over Lummi, Washington. (Credit: Google)

A Washington witness at Lummi reported watching a triangle-shaped object “as big as a house” that passed overhead, but hovered briefly while shooting orange-colored orbs to the ground level, according to testimony in Case 85309.

The witness was driving home from a casino at 10:30 a.m. on July 20, 2017, when the incident began.

“I saw a huge, triangle-shaped object come from the south direction and travel south,” the witness stated. “It was big as a house with red lights all over the bottom.”

“It made a humming sound as it passed almost overhead. As it went north over by the river, it stopped and shot out 10 orange orbs down into the river or close to the bank anyway. I watched it for about 20 minutes. It was raining that morning, but the clouds were clear out when I saw it.”

The Lummi, also known as Lhaq’temish, or People of the Sea, governed by the Lummi Nation, are a Native American tribe of the Coast Salish ethnolinguistic group in western Washington state. The feder-ally recognized tribe primarily resides on and around the Lummi Indian Reservation to the west of Belling-ham in western Whatcom County, 20 miles south of the border with Canada.

Washington MUFON State Section Director Timothy Ward investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.

Green disc UFO reported under 100 feet over New Mexico

The witness was near the exit for Los Alamos when the object was first seen. (Credit: Google)

A New Mexico witness at Pojoaque reported watching a bright green, disc-shaped object less than 100 feet off the ground, according to testimony in Case 81321.

The witness was driving with her hus-band from Taos County to Santa Fe at 6:20 p.m. on January 3, 2017, when the incident began.

“I saw a bright, strobing object head-ing south on the west side of the highway just as we were coming up to the exit for Los Alamos,” the witness stated. “Near Pojoaque and the stores and gas stations and casino that are at that point on the road.”

    The witness was headed northbound.

“It was less than 100 feet elevation. Very bright green. It seemed to be a spiraling or spinning pattern to it and round, but flat. I think it seemed to spiral on the bottom of it, but it may have been more spherical. There were no other lights on it, and in my mind, I tried to say it was a helicopter be-cause of the spinning, but it was bright green and no other lights on it.”

The object appeared to move twice as fast as the vehicle moving along at 50 mph – moving at about 100 mph.

“I tried to point and tell my husband fast enough so he could see it, but he was only able to see it in the back win-dow of the SUV maybe a mile or more behind us over an overpass. He was able to see the strobing green light, but not the spiral or spinning pattern. I had music on and the windows closed, so I have no idea if it had a noise asso-

ciated with it. I was very aware that it was not explainable in my mind. I had no frame of reference for what I had seen, nor did my husband, who could not explain something moving at that speed, so low and bright lime green. I was constantly looking for others or something to explain it. We lost sight of it because I was headed north. And while I did have the desire to turn around and chase it, I knew I was not fast enough to pull a U-turn across six lanes.”

New Mexico MUFON State Section Director David Hillendahl investigat-ed this case and closed it as an Un-known.

“Witness provided no further infor-mation,” Hillendahl stated in his re-port. “I did drive the exact same route to determine if the sighting might have been the result of sign reflection or other natural phenomena.”

Disc UFO hovers 50 feet over Indiana tree line

The object hovered for about one minute above the tree line. Pictured: Kouts, IN. (Credit: Google)

An Indiana witness at Kouts reported watching a silent, disc-shaped object just 50 feet above the tree line, accord-ing to testimony in Case 81407.

The witness was outside walking a dog at 5:10 a.m. on January 8, 2017, when the incident occurred.

“It was around 5 in the morning with a clear, dark sky,” the witness stated. “When I was on my way to my house, I noticed a very bright light moving above the trees in the forest. It was around 50 feet above the trees moving from north to south.”

    The witness described the object.

“It was a circular object around 10 feet in diameter. As it moved over the trees, it did not light up the woods

underneath the light. As it approached the road, the object and light just dis-appeared. It made no sound.”

Indiana MUFON State Director Philip Leech investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.

“The object hovered in place for around one minute and then began to come out of the wood line heading towards a cornfield,” Leech stated in his report. “Witness describes the ob-ject reacting as if it had seen him, with the result being the bright, white light ‘just shut off.’ The witness advised that the event did not cause his K-9 to react in anyway. No time loss, due to the witness being on somewhat of a timeline to walk the dog before work. The witness did describe the morn-ing as being ‘eerie’ which somewhat concerned him during and before the walk. Of special note: The witness did describe the white light as not shining on the trees or landscape, just illumi-nating the object itself.”

Kouts is a town in Pleasant Township, Porter County, Indiana. The popula-tion was 1,879 at the 2010 census.

Slow moving triangle reported over California

The witness first thought the object was a jet landing. Pictured: Wetherly Street in La Mesa, California. (Credit: Google)

A California witness at La Mesa reported watching a triangle-shaped object silently moving overhead with white lights at its three points, accord-ing to testimony in Case 85310.

The witness was returning home from a dinner in La Mesa at 9:40 p.m. on July 20, 2017, when the incident began.

“My transportation van was in the shop for servicing and I was using a motorized wheelchair,” the witness

stated. “My daughter and son-in-law accompanied me in my daughter’s truck and were playing leapfrog to make sure that I had no difficulty because of the darkness. There were no streetlights in the area. I was using a strobe headlamp so that oncoming vehicles could see me.”

The witness then noticed lights in the sky.

“As I turned from Highwood Street onto Wetherly Street, I became aware of the flashing white light approxi-mately 50 yards behind and above me and there was absolutely no sound. I live in the area within the flight path of commercial aircraft approaching landing at Lindbergh Field in San Diego.”

The witness at first thought the lights were landing lights of a commercial jet, but noticed there were no navi-gation lights; just three, white lights blinking at the same time. “I assumed they were navigation lights, but the craft was too low to have been a commercial aircraft and there was no sound. I am quite familiar with jet engine, helicopter, and reciprocating engine sound and noise.”

Because there was no sound, the wit-ness took notice.

“There were no sound of any kind, human, animal or any type of aircraft. The craft was now directly overhead, but it was so dark I could not make out any shape except for the three lights which appeared to be at the points of a triangle. The craft was moving only slightly faster than I. I increased my speed as much as possi-ble and continued up Wetherly Street. The craft continued above me and moved slightly faster. I estimate I was moving in about 5 to 8 mph.”

The witness then stopped a second time to listen for any sounds.

“There were none. As I approach my driveway, my daughter had moved her car onto the driveway and she and her husband got out. I have a motion sen-sor light in the driveway which came on at that point. In a normal voice, I asked my son-in-law and my daughter

  • THE MUFON JOURNAL | 9

if they had heard anything. They both said no. Everything was silent in the craft and it continued in an easterly direction and disappeared behind some trees in my neighbor’s yard. I called the La Mesa police who were unable to verify any sightings by their personnel.”

La Mesa is a city in Southern Califor-nia, located 9 miles east of downtown San Diego in San Diego County, population 57,065. California MU-FON Field Investigator Gary Buzel investigated this case and closed it as Information Only.

Texas witness says light ‘tethered’ to triangle object

The witness watched a light in the sky that appeared to be tethered to a larger object over Dallas, Texas. (Credit: Google)

A Texas witness at Dallas reported watching multiple objects in the sky where a light seemed to be tethered to a larger, triangle-shaped object, according to testimony in Case 84627.

The witness was outside walking a dog at 11 p.m. on June 25, 2017, and observed a white light that looked like a star in the sky to the east.

“I realized the light was moving back and forth, east to west, very fast and appeared to be slowly moving down,” the witness stated. “I went inside and got everyone to come out; then we grabbed binoculars. You could see that the light was attached or tethered to something large and shaped like a tri-angle. The light appeared to drag the triangle across the sky and back again, but it was descending.”

As the object came closer, the witness could see that the triangle was big and black like a wing and that there was an attachment between it and the light.

“We watched for an hour. Then went inside. I posted it on Facebook in hopes someone would go outside and see what we were seeing. I got lots of amusing comments, but no help. We continued to go back outside wishing someone in our neighborhood would wake up and come see this thing.”

After two hours, the object had moved directly over their heads.

“Now we are laying in our front lawn sharing the binoculars trying to see what this thing is. We all tried to take video or pictures, but all you can see was the light, not the thing being pulled around.”

Then at 2 a.m. another object appeared just like the first one, in the east in approximately the same positions.

“Now we have two. We couldn’t be-lieve it. We went through everything it could be – weather balloon, sky diver at night in the city? They were up too high for anything we could think of, so we took another break and went back inside.”

About an hour later they went back to look again.

“Now there are four. There are two more. They don’t appear to be drag-ging anything, but are much brighter and have the same movement as the first two – the difference being one has a green light and the other a red. The original object has gone way back up where only the light is visible again. We watched until about 4:30 a.m. They all shared the same movement. The two with white lights definitely had something attached. I reported it to our local CBS station and re-ceived a “we have no idea” response. I would love an explanation. There were three of us that witnessed this. I am currently waiting for the sun to go down so I can see if they are back.”

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 26, 2017. Dallas, Texas, has a population of 1,317,929.

Texas MUFON Field Investigator Jeremy Galyon is investigating this case.

Washington witness describes two low-flying triangles

The witness saw the second object at the corner of Rhodes Lake Road and 198th Avenue. (Credit: Google)

A Washington witness at Bonney Lake reported watching two trian-gle-shaped objects low-flying with white and red lights, according to testimony in Case 81301.

“If you look on a map, my brother and I were headed east on Rhodes Lake Road coming from my brother’s house on the corner of Angeline Road and Rhodes Lake Road. When we pulled onto the road, we immediately noticed three white lights shaped like a giant triangle UFO over downtown Bonney Lake to our north.”

The object was very low on the hori-zon and the witness could only see it through trees.

“Then we got to the corner of Rhodes Lake Road and 198th Avenue when we noticed another craft almost direct-ly above us.”

The second object was much closer; the witness could make out its shape.

“It was illuminated by white and red lights and was triangular with round-ed corners, but 3-D obviously. It was slowly spinning. I noticed it wasn’t moving and then it immediately start-ed moving west about as fast as you see a plane move, but this was much closer than a plane so it must have been going much slower than that. Then it stopped again for a second and start-ed going southwest at a considerable speed. That’s when I lost it in the tree line and nothing else after.”

Washington Field Investigators Calvin Owens and Mary Owens investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown UAV. l

Gravitational Waves Discoveredfor those who missed out on both the 2015 announcement and its significance

    by T. L. Keller

Ripples in the curvature of spacetime: that’s the official definition for gravita-tional waves that scientists have been looking for since Einstein proposed his theory of general relativity in 1915. So what are they . . . really . . . and why should the reader care? Well, for one reason at least: they’re weird. Another reason is that they may be discovered to be one of several proposed means of interstellar travel. But more about that later.

Two black holes in collision releasing gravitational waves

    1

The Theory In Einstein’s theory, gravity is treated as a phenomenon resulting from the curvature of spacetime. This curvature results from the presence of a (large) mass or celestial body (the Sun, for example). The larger the mass, the greater the curvature of spacetime around that mass. Large accelerating masses, under the right conditions, also cause changes in the curvature of spacetime. Those changes in the curvature propagate outward at the speed of light, have no mass and are known as gravitational waves.

Curvature of spacetime around a large mass (Earth shown here)

    2

gravitational waves ripples in the curvature of space-time that propagate as waves outward from their source at the speed of light and are without mass (i.e., massless).

spacetimegravitational waves ripples in the curvature of spacetime that prop-agate as waves outward from their source at the speed of light and are without mass (i.e., massless).

superluminalfaster than the speed of light

wormholea wormhole may connect extreme-ly long distances such as a billion light years or more; short distanc-es such as a few feet; different universes; and/or different points in time. This is proposed in Ein-stein’s general theory of relativity where the combination of space and time into a single spacetime continuum could theoretically allow one to traverse both space and time using a wormhole with the correct conditions. Also known scientifically as an Einstein-Rosen Bridge. Wormholes are theoretical and have not as yet been proven to exist.

  • THE MUFON JOURNAL | 11

The ScienceGravitational waves are produced as a result of the collision of two black holes, in- spiraling neutron stars, binary star systems and supernovae. For example, as two black holes approach and spin around each other, they eventually spiral in and collide. The collision releases gravitational waves that create ripples in the curvature of spacetime. Think of spacetime as a fabric. A fabric can be folded, bent or warped.

For example, spacetime is folded around a planet and the greater the mass of the planet, the greater the folding of space-time around that planet. What scientists want to know is how gravitational waves work. What engineers want to know is how gravitational waves could be used in some purposeful way. But first, the experiment.

The ExperimentThe further away Earth is from the point of collision of two objects (or acceleration of an object), the lesser will be the effect of the waves as they are detected on Earth.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory) began work-ing in 1994 to detect the passage of gravitational waves. Several years ago, two teams, the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration, built two separate detection observatories at distant locations. On September 14, 2015, LIGO detected the first gravitational waves resulting from the collision of two black holes 1.3 billion light years away. On June 15, 2016, a second set of waves was detected from another collision of two black holes 1.4 billion light years away. The third detection of the collision of two black holes was made on June 1, 2017, at a distance of 2.9 billion light years.

How does LIGO work? LIGO has one detector in Livingston, Louisiana, and one in Richland, Washington. An interfer-ometer is basically an instrument that measures the interference patterns of light. In this case we’re dealing with laser light (or what is called coherent light). The figures, below, show how LIGO works.

Figure 1: A beam splitter (green line) splits laser light (from the white box) into two beams that are reflected off mirrors (cyan blue colored). The reflected beams re-combine and an interference pattern is detected (at solid purple dot).

Figure 2: As a gravitational wave passes through the left arm (yellow), the length of the arm changes the wave’s length and the wave is detected (at solid purple dot).

    PERCEPTIONSSTANTON FRIEDMAN

A couple of weeks ago, I was on my long way (three flights through four time zones) from Fredericton, New Brunswick, to Salmon Arm, British Columbia. I looked at the airport newsstand in Toronto and spotted a special Collector’s Edition of Scientific American. The cover got my attention. In large red typeface was, “Wonders of the Cosmos.” Smaller type promised, “Far-out tales from the edges of space and time.” In smaller type were four tantalizing subjects: “Black hole at the beginning of time,” “Searching for life on other worlds,” “Why do stars ex-plode?” and “The largest structures in the universe.” A circled highlight was, “Do we live in an infinite multiverse?” Who could resist?

I must admit I was not able to get all the way through this collection during the rest of the flight. I was not really surprised to find almost nothing about aliens or interstellar travel despite the provocative titles. But there was much of interest. I was piqued by an editor’s foreword: “The Mysterious Universe – In this special edition we present the most riveting discoveries about our cosmic home from what we know of the origins of the universe and the car-tography of space of the most bizarre phenomena and the enduring ques-tion: Are we alone in the universe?” This would certainly have puzzled scientists reading this 50 years ago.

There is no advertising in the 112 pag-es, which include 16 chapters under four groupings: “How did the universe

begin?,” “Cosmic Cartography,” “Wild Phenomena” and “Life off of Earth.” A total of 25 authors are noted.

I will quote some fascinating com-ments. I must admit there were many surprises.

Page 14: “After the unimaginable brilliance of the big bang and its im-mediate aftermath, the cosmos entered what astronomers call the dark ages of the universe. By about one billion years, the universe was fully reionized – radiation had blown the atoms apart, clearing the way for light to shine again.”

Page 15: “It is almost impossible to understand how the black hole could have grown so large in the limited time that the universe had up to that point, yet form it did.”

On page 20 of “The Puzzle of Dark Energy,” we find this extraordinary claim: “The universe is getting bigger every second. Galaxies are flying apart from one another, clusters of galaxies are zooming away from other clusters, and the empty space between every-thing is growing wider and wider. But more recently astronomers found that the process is speeding up…galaxies are receding from one another faster than they were a moment ago.”

On page 27: “On February 11, 2016, scientists announced that the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) had discovered ripples in spacetime created by merg-

ing black holes. About 1.3 billion years ago two black holes swirled closer and closer together until they crashed in a furious bang. Each black hole packed roughly 30 times the mass of our sun into a minute volume and their head-on impact came as the two were approaching the speed of light. The staggering strength of the merger gave rise to a new black hole and created a gravitational field so strong that it distorted spacetime in waves that spread throughout space with a power about 50 times stronger than that of all the shining stars and galaxies in the observable universe.” Hard to believe, isn’t it?

Page 39: “Our Place in the Cosmos. The Milky Way turns out to be part of a massive super cluster of galaxies that forms one of the largest known struc-tures in the universe. This discovery is only the beginning of a new effort to map the cosmos.” Do note that one hundred years ago it was thought that the Milky Way was the only galaxy.

Page 44: “Galaxies flow in currents, swirl in eddies and collect in pools to reveal the structure, dynamics and futures of the largest accumulations of matter in the universe.”

Page 46 chapter heading: “Black holes, wormholes and the secrets of Quan-tum Spacetime. The weird quantum phenomenon of entanglement could produce shortcuts between distant black holes.” Please note that the dia-grams state that, “No person or signal

    could travel through, however.”

The subtitle in the chapter called “Stellar Fireworks” states that “every year thousands of exploding stars ap-pear in a bizarre assortment of forms. Astronomers want to know what makes them go boom.”

Page 54: “Roughly every second somewhere in our observable universe a sun is destroyed in a stellar catastro-phe – when a star pulsates, collides, collapses to a black hole or explodes as a supernova. At their peak, supernovae can shine brighter than a billion suns, but because most occur very far away, they appear to us as dim specks of light easily lost in a big sky.”

Here is another mind-boggling gem: “When a supernovae explodes, the star’s interior temperature rises above 5 billion degrees Fahrenheit, driving a supersonic blast wave that leaves in its wake a freshly made mess of freshly fused heavy elements such as silicon, calcium, iron. Among the zoo of weird supernovae recently discovered, per-haps the most dramatic are hyperener-getic explosions…ultranovae—that are more than 100 times as luminous as ordinary supernovae.” I am not making this up. And the sky looks so peaceful and serene. Names have been given to three different kinds: “particle pair supernovae,” “false alarm Supernovae,” and “Magnetic Supernovae.” I must note that soon several other new tele-scopes will be coming online and will undoubtedly result in the discovery of even more incredible phenomena.

Not only are spectacularly powerful stellar bodies being discovered. There is a chapter entitled, “Extreme mol-ecules in Space.” “Astrochemists are discovering many compounds in the cosmos that cannot exist on Earth. As recently as the 1960s, most scien-tists doubted molecules could exist in interstellar space at all. It was thought radiation in space would break up the molecules. Wrong again. In 1968,

we learn of Tidal Disruption Events (TDE). These outbursts occur when a supermassive black hole consumes an unlucky star. They allow researchers to track the feeding process from begin-ning to end and are bright enough to be observed in galaxies both near and far.”

On page 72 we are told: “By studying these disruption events, astronomers are learning not only about black holes, but also about stars being ripped apart billions of light years away.”

It should hardly be surprising that there is a chapter entitled “Cosmic (In)Significance” on page 74. “We all re-side on a small planet orbiting a single, middle-aged star, that is one of some 200 billion stars in the great swirl of matter that makes up the Milky Way Galaxy. Our galaxy is but one of an estimated several hundred billion such structures in the observable universe.” Makes one feel sorry for Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543). He claimed that the Earth was not in the center of the solar system. The sun was. His book claiming this was banned by the Church for 300 years. Giordano Bruno (1548-1600) made the supreme sacrifice (being burned at the stake) for agreeing with Copernicus. Galil-eo Galilei (1564-1642) was made to recant his acceptance of Copernicus’s notions. I have often wondered if far-sighted thinkers like these men were treated equally badly in other solar sys-tems. Obviously, I am convinced that there are more advanced life forms all over the place.

On page 77, there is this exciting thought: “Our species has sprung into existence within the barest instant of this universe’s enormously long history, and it looks like there will be an even longer future that may or may not contain us. The quest to find our place, to discover our relevance, can seem like a monumental joke.”

A different concern (page79) is ex-

pressed in the chapter entitled: “The Search for life on Faraway Moons.” “Moons orbiting distant exoplanets may account for most of the habitable locales in the galaxy. If only we could find them. We now know of thou-sands of planets orbiting other stars. In all likelihood, hundreds of billions more call the Milky Way home.” This would have been considered a crazy notion not too many years ago. Page 82 discusses, “How to make a Moon—Scientists don’t expect gaseous Jupiter-like planets to harbor much life, but if such a planet is home to a sufficiently large moon, the moon just might.” Rather an interesting notion.

There is obviously (at least to me) a lot of great material in this special issue of Scientific American. I found it exciting that the 2017 Nobel Prize in physics was awarded on October 3 to three American physicists – Rainer Weiss of MIT and Kip Thorne and Barry Barish of California Institute of Technology for detecting gravitational waves. These have often been de-scribed as wrinkles in spacetime. They were predicted by Albert Einstein more than 100 years ago and were very difficult to detect because, though very important in shaping the universe, they have such small effects that they have been very difficult to detect. They “heard” the “gentle chirp” caused by two black holes that collided more than a billion years ago! This is frankly very impressive to me and continues to impress me with how brilliant Einstein was to predict so many difficult aspects of the world in which we live. We have no way of knowing the impact of these new discoveries. Surely, they could be as important as Einstein’s prediction that light from a star would be bent by the gravity of the moon as it went by or how about E = mc2, which we nuclear physicists employ to produce loads of energy. The full impact of the new observations will I am sure be shown to be important in the future and not just to physicists. l

One of the many advantages of being involved in the largest UFO inves-

tigation organization in the world is being

able to spot patterns in MUFON’s

    Case Management System (CMS).

    The MUFON Special Assignments Team

(SAT) was tasked with investigating why

people are reporting what appear to be

    military jets and helicopters accompa-

    nying unidentified aerial phenomena.

The similarities between the cases are

uncanny, from the silent glowing orbs to

the dangerously low flying military es-

corts. The question remains, what ex-

actly is being chased and why?

MUFON CMS case examples When reviewing the following CMS cases, try to pick out the similarities between them and begin forming your own hypothesis. Then read on to see what the SAT group has uncovered. Witness testimony has been edited for clarity.

    MUFON Cases # 19337 and # 19532 Portland, Oregon, 9/15/09 and 9/17/09

MUFON SAT Investigator Dev Rugne identified a military-involved report that happened only two days before a similar experience of her own. The eyewit-ness recounts the event. “My wife and I saw a solid white light floating across the skies and made no noise we could detect on the night of September 15th, 2009. Saw what appeared to be a plane. It had a white light in front and two red lights trailing behind it. The white light did not flash or blink, started to move further out in front of the two red lights. The white light being the same witnessed by my wife and myself about four weeks earlier. The red lights trailing behind it ap-peared to be a jet. I heard the sounds of jet engines in the direction of the red lights. Both lights disappeared behind the trees.”

Rugne’s own account two days later: “I heard and felt what I knew to be a jet (F-15) fly by at a fairly low alti-tude. I saw four big, bright, red lights in a row, horizon-tally. There was a small white light that was flashing on and off over to the side a bit. Watched it fly overhead and saw between seven to nine red lights in a triangu-lar formation underneath this craft. I could hear the roar of an engine, but not what an F-15 would sound like.”

    MUFON Case # 59652 Vancouver, Washington, 7/2/14

MUFON SAT investigator James Clarkson recognized the following case as an example of possible military intervention with a UFO. The on-duty police officer related his experience: “I observed a metallic disc moving rapidly across the sky. It appeared to be sev-eral thousand feet in elevation. There was no contrail.  Further, it looked uniformly metallic and circular, with no visible wings, tail, windows, lights, landing gear, or other components of conventional airframes, both rotor and fixed-wing. It also did not look similar to any unmanned aerial vehicles I have observed. It appeared to be travelling faster than any conventional aircraft. I observed the leading edge of the object shimmer and disappear. An image of the surrounding blue sky enveloped the object, until the object blended in with the sky behind it. Approximately 30 seconds later, I observed a jet fighter aircraft flying rapidly along the same course the disc had taken. I recognized this aircraft, based on prior experience, to be an F-15. The F-15 was extremely loud while passing over, whereas the disc was silent.”

    MUFON Case # 72083 Pueblo, Colorado, 10/3/15

SAT investigator Kate Griboski identified several cases as pertinent to the military quandary. The eyewitness details his experience in one of those cases. “Military Jets flew low over friend’s home. I observed the mil-itary jets flying. I saw about four-to-six bright colored orbs go from ground to sky (like a roman candle). The orbs appeared to disappear in the sky. As I focused, I could see an outline of a large boomerang-shaped craft as it blocked out the stars in the sky. Orbs seemed to be disappearing near the tail of the craft, on the passenger side. Military craft flying without lights, but could view their afterburners from engines.”

MUFON Case # 73377 Rancho Cucamonga, California 11/3/2015

Bob Spearing found several cases in the CMS that clearly show military intervention with helicopters

chasing unknown objects. The eyewitness describes the scenario. “I saw a blinking red light which was attached to the chopper, but the chopper had no other lights including search illuminated. It was go-ing back and forth in multiple directions. It had to be chasing something. Then it seemed to clear the trees and I could see a dense ball of light. I could see the red beacon light of the chopper and saw and heard it following the object. That’s when I saw the movement of another dense ball of light. The chopper then went straight up after the ball of light.”

MUFON Case # 77097 Rapid City, South Dakota, 6/16/16

“… there was a helicopter following a very bright white light. Also, noticed two faint ‘star-like’ lights FAR above flying overhead simultaneously. Then the bright light disappeared and re-appeared in front of the helicopter.“

    MUFON Case # 77796 Newton/Rockingham, New Hampshire, 7/19/16

“… saw a red light or orb high in the air fly directly over my house. Then a low flying helicopter following behind it. Unable to see color of copter due to dark-ness, but it was large, and very loud. It also seemed to be much lower than the object and followed directly behind it.”

    MUFON Case # 79232, Fountain, Colorado, 9/16/16

“I saw a white orb of light going over the roof tops and over the trees. Not far behind were three black helicopters in a triangle-shaped flight pattern following the craft at very high speeds. The craft then made a

left-hand turn towards the mountains. That’s when I saw one of the helicopters intercept the craft, getting in front of it. It had no blinking lights or defined shape, and made no sound at all.”

    MUFON Cases # 79516 and # 79436 Morning View, Kentucky, 9/26/16

“I saw to my right a low flying, blacked-out, had to be military, helicopter with one red light at the bottom chasing a ball of light. They flew low, way less than 500 feet. I saw the ball of light fly under the helicopter. The helicopter tilted the front end down as if to get a better look.”Then, five minutes later, another eyewitness reported the following: “I saw a white ball of light come first. It was just gliding through the air very smoothly. Then following the light came the helicopter. It was black with only one flashing light on the bottom. The light zipped forward away from the chopper and then the light stopped as it was waiting on the chopper to catch up. Then the light even went under the chopper and then zipped out in front of the chopper again before making a large swooping right turn very fast.”

MUFON Case # 79372 Palmyra, New Jersey, 9/24/16

“I saw two helicopters flying in loose formation. Both had either bright landing lights, or search lights, point-ed in the direction of flight. I observed the lead heli-copter was actually following another unknown aircraft, which was approximately 1,000 feet in front of the lead helicopter. This unknown aircraft did not have flashing anti-collision lights (‘strobes’) nor the primary red flash-ing light; however, it appeared to have one or more very dim whitish lights, not flashing. Two helicopters pursued this unknown. I was not able to make out any definite airframe size or shape of the unknown these appeared to be pursuing, except for very dim unflash-ing light(s). It looked as if they were pursuing a small drone, except the airspeed of the flight was doing at least 90 knots or faster. There was no sound of a dif-ferent engine type other than the two helicopters.”

MUFON Case # 79839 Nashua, New Hampshire, 10/15/16

“I heard an extremely loud, very low-flying helicopter. We could feel the building vibrating from it. Sounded more like a Black Hawk than the standard choppers that police/news uses. And we couldn’t see search-

lights of any kind over the woods. Suddenly, we saw a reddish/orange light break over the tree line headed south. It was a large orb shape, flying very fast in a perfectly straight line – skimming above the trees no more than a few hundred feet off the ground. It didn’t weave or change course, didn’t wobble, or change colors/size/shape. There were no other lights on it, and it didn’t appear to pulse. Following just behind it was a large helicopter which appeared to be pursuing the object. The helicopter appeared military in design and was large and dark colored, either black or gray with only a couple of small red lights on it and no visible markings that I could see. The orb appeared to accel-erate slightly while it was in view, but then backed off a bit, as if it was trying to stay just out of reach of the helicopter. The orb appeared to be about one-third to one-half as large as the helicopter.”

MUFON Case # 80186 Athens, New York, 11/3/16

“I heard a loud helicopter approaching outside. It was low flying (approximately 500 feet). I then noticed a small, steady, burning red light far out ahead and to the left of it. Both continued on in perfect formation. I was unable to hear anything but the helicopter, or make out the shape of the object with the red light being trailed.“

MUFON Case # 80705 Port Angeles, Washington, 11/29/16

“I heard a large, heavy helicopter. It had been an-nounced that electronic warfare games would be occurring. The helicopter was at about 250 feet mov-ing at 50 to 70 mph. I saw an orange light within one helicopter length of the helicopter. It was ahead, below and starboard. It did not change position relative to the helicopter.”

    MUFON Case # 80841 Cummings, Georgia, 12/2/16

“I saw a red light (I assume it was a running light from the helicopter) in the sky. The red light was coming back and moving fast, very fast. The chop was so pow-erful that I then realized this has to be a military chop-per. I couldn’t see the chopper itself yet, but I could see its red running light (the only light visible) as it approached. A few seconds later, the chopper passed right in front of me just above treetop height. When it passed by, the chopper was completely black, as in there were no lights emanating from the cabin, just the

  • THE MUFON JOURNAL | 17

red running light. Just in front of the chopper, about 50 to 70 feet, was a tubular-shaped, glowing, white object silently screaming by. It was silent.”

MUFON Case # 80919, Burlington, New Jersey, 12/10/16

“It was hard to make out in the night sky it being a black helicopter. I could make out a red/orangish orb shape which looked like it was glowing and the heli-copter behind it maybe between 300-500 feet. They were both flying in a straight path at what appeared to be high speeds.”

MUFON Case # 82496 Ty Ty, Georgia, 2/21/17

Roger Marsh, who recognized the trend in military accompaniment of UFOs, identified the following as a case of interest. The eyewitness described what he observed. “I first heard low speed jet engines north of me. I saw a row of flashing, white, strobe lights with a reddish- orange ball or sphere in the middle coming toward me moving real slow. One jet was approximately 500 feet to the west of the reddish-orange sphere. Another jet was approximately 500 feet to the east of the red-dish-orange sphere and four more jets were side-by-side following about 1,000 feet behind the sphere. This reddish-orange sphere was about 30 feet in diameter. It was kind of dim with no strobe lights of any kind.”

    MUFON Case # 86344 Denver, Colorado, 8/29/17

Kate Griboski found an interesting comment on Colo-rado’s Case of the Month pertaining to military inter-vention. The eyewitness reported the following. “There were spinning, silver, metallic rectangles, about 20, in the sky. They would look like they were reflect-ing the sun very brightly sometimes. They were all in different places in the sky and made no discernible pattern amongst themselves. They ranged in height. The lowest ones were at the treetops and the highest was higher than a single engine plane flying low would fly. Some of them would stop spinning and then flutter down like five feet. Then they would spin again. A few of the rectangles had three squares on them – dark silver color – going down the center. Then in about 30 seconds, they all disappeared.” But, it was this com-ment that was interesting: “I saw this too at about the same time! I only saw one of the rectangles though. It was very high in the sky and looked large – right after the rectangle moved out of my view, what appeared to be a military helicopter, flew in and searched the area for a good 30 minutes.”

Is it “Them” or “Us”? Things to Consider…First we need to look at what most of the cases have in common – the reddish or white, silent, glowing

orbs, the low-flying loud military-like aircraft following at close range or soon after the fact over populated civilian areas. Let’s look at the facts and some of the proposed theories of what’s really going on.

1 Who provides the jets and helicopters that chase or accompany another aircraft? Obviously, the Air Force has a full fleet at their beck and call, as does the Navy and Marines, but did you know that since 1960, NASA also has its own fleet of jets? Not only are they used for astronaut-training pur-poses, but they provide an extra pair of eyes to moni-tor and record NASA vehicles in flight.

2 What would be cause for military to scramble aircraft to follow or escort another aircraft? We’ve all seen the special escort service provided Air Force One and the space shuttle flanked by F-15s, but what else would cause the military to chase down an-other aircraft? According to veteran pilots, some of the reasons are: to provide security – as in escorting an important asset; to show strength – if someone gets a little too close to a no-fly zone or is unresponsive; for the safety of threatened citizens – as in the case of a terrorist on a passenger plane, to “steer” presumed threats to a more desired location; to put eyes on an unknown situation, or for a training exercise.

3 These are high-priced escorts. Whatever the reason is for jets and helicopters to follow these mysterious objects, it must be very important because it’s very expensive and we, the taxpayers, get to foot the bill. According to the De-partment of Defense’s data, the prices can range from $5,944 an hour to $33,530 an hour. For example, if an F-22 is utilized, the top end of this price range would come into play. And the military tiltrotor aircraft known as an Osprey is a whopping $83,256 an hour!

4 How long does it take to get one of these up in the air? Again, this information is mostly classified, but the best answer is between 5 and 15 minutes. Five if the plane is ready – gassed, armed, pre-flight checks completed, and the pilot is ready – and this as you remember from #3 above would be very expensive and is usually only implemented when the country is at high alert.

5 Is it possible that the orbs are simply drones or something explainable? Of course, this could be true, but see #7 below per-taining to drones. And it is quite possible that eyewit-

nesses are seeing a new technology implemented by the DOD. The DOD is experimenting with putting lights, which are used in conjunction with night-vision goggles, on the ends of helicopter blades. To the ob-server on the ground, the lights may appear to be dim red or green orbs.

6 Could this be nothing more than military training exercises? A well placed member of MUFON suggests that based upon his previous high-level clearance, these may be examples of electronic warfare exercises with drones used by the U.S. military. The Pentagon recently published the DOD’s electronic warfare strategy (only available to some government officials and some who hold contracts with the government). There seems to be an urgency in mastering this new realm, protecting our drones and being able to hack or jam the adver-saries’ armed drones with lower-cost electromagnetic weapons.

7 But wait, isn’t it illegal to fly military drones over civilian areas? Bob Spearing previously wrote on this subject, point-ing out that a law requires the military to seek special approval to operate drones within civilian airspace and only in the most necessary of circumstances. In fact, USA Today stated that the U.S. military flew nine missions between 2011 and 2016, largely to assist with search and rescue, floods, fires or National Guard ex-ercises. This raises the question, if these are electronic warfare exercises, are they being held illegally? Or are other organizations providing the possible drones?

8 Isn’t it super dangerous to hold possible training exercises directly over populated civilian areas? Unlike the drones, it is legal for aircraft to train over civilian areas as long as the correct forms are filed, but helicopters flying within civilian airspace are required to display navigational, anti-collision and directional lighting in order to avoid collisions with other aircraft. This doesn’t seem to be a rule that is being followed in these reported cases. Spearing asked a pilot with 31 years of experience under his belt his thoughts on flying so close to the treetops, as in many of our ex-amples. “Flying at treetop level is almost suicidal. Even with night vision goggles, which are almost universal for nighttime flights, the avoidance of telephone lines and cell phone towers at those low altitudes is a sec-ond-to-second avoidance maneuver that the military does not condone except in the most critical of situa-tions!” He then added, “They are not ours!”

Small pockets of individuals who have a close encounter with a UFO also witness military intervention. As far as one can track UFOs in the U.S. modern era, examples abound that U.S. military participated in the aerial ex-perience; or was tracking, following, or escorting UFOs through civilian airspace.

The stories are incredibly similar. A UFO at often low altitudes is seen by one or more witnesses and quickly followed by the presence of one or more jets or helicop-ters – some of these appearing to be dark in color and unmarked. In most scenes, the UFO is winning – well, at least they’re mostly out in front offering the appearance that the U.S. air ships are following along or chasing.

My UFO report at age 16 is one of those stories.

Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Neighborhood – Mt. View. Seminary Drive standing about 50 feet from the gates to then St. Joseph Hall. After dark. An October night 1973. A mix of about 8 or 10 kids ages 10 to 17. Adults outside talking or raking leaves frame the street behind us.

A disc-shaped object about the width of the two-lane roadway and about 10 feet tall with a bottom glowing the same color as the moon – meandered toward us at about 5 to 10 mph, floating just inches above the 40-foot telephone poles.

One of us called out, “What’s that?” and pointed in the direction of the object. Everyone turned in that direction and saw the object.

No more than three seconds ticked away before the silent object moved directly overhead and crossed over the St. Joseph Hall gates and stayed just above the tree tops moving over the next hill, where it most likely glided over Route 30 below.

When the object passed overhead and I was staring di-rectly up at it, you could feel the displacement of air, hear a shushing sound – but no sound at all from the aircraft.

There was a quick flutter of talk among the group about what we had just seen – was it a UFO? I ran to my moth-er’s ’72 Pontiac Grand Ville, fired it up, and drove the few blocks to my parent’s home. I rushed in the door to tell my father I’d just seen a low-flying UFO. We moved out-side during the talk so my dad could check out the sky to see if it had returned. Then a friend’s father pulled up in front in their Ford station wagon loaded down with kids. The guy had seen it too and was driving around looking for it. I agreed to meet him and his family for a skywatch at his home immediately. My father did not want to come along.

I soon found myself standing on the friend’s front lawn staring skyward while everyone told their version of what they had seen. We didn’t have to wait long.

Within that first hour, someone again shouted and pointed – and there it was again. The same object, disc-shaped with a glowing bottom – but now at a much further distance. Now instead of being just 40 feet away at one point, you would have to use your thumb to cover the object up as you extended your arm out. The object was also at a much higher altitude now – perhaps 1,000 feet. The object was seen shooting rapidly into the air space and stopping on a dime.

The object hovered in place for a short period of time. No more than one or two minutes. Then it shot rapidly toward ground level, and stopped abruptly again about 100 or so feet off the ground. It hovered in this position for a few seconds. And then moved to our right about 10 or 20 feet and stopped and hovered again for a few seconds. Then it shot upwards rapidly to the original height it had been. It hovered there a few seconds. Then shot to our right about 10 or 20 feet and hovered again for a few seconds. Then it shot back toward ground level again, about 100 feet above land, and hovered in place again. Then it darted back up to its original altitude and stopped.

To our left, we heard the roaring sound of jet engines blasting toward us. The UFO seemingly reacted to this sound and shot off into the sky to our right, moving rap-idly upwards. The object disappeared in about a single second from hovering to a speck in the sky.

Two military-style jets soon appeared and quickly circled the area at the altitude the UFO had been hovering at. They circled three times and then moved off in the direc-tion of the UFO and quickly disappeared.

Seconds later, a lower humming sound was heard and quickly followed by two single-engine planes – flying in formation like the military jets – that performed the same circling sequence three times and then moved off in the direction the UFO and military jets had taken.

Thirty minutes later, the entire scene played out exactly as it had earlier. The UFO arrived – completed the same movements in the sky and stopped in place. The military jets and planes repeated their actions.

The group stood outside several more hours, but the sky was silent. l

Today the MUFON Journal One-On-One sits down with Jim Millard, Idaho’s State

Director, member of C.A.G., and Field Investigator. Jim states he was born in San

Diego, California, and grew up in Long Beach, California. He has lived in the Boise

area since 2004. He spent eight and-a-half years in the U.S. Air Force and served

in Vietnam. He then pursued a career in IT. As a computer repairman, programmer,

analyst and finally as one of the system administrators for Canyon County, Idaho.

While working for Concurrent Computer Corp. in Los Angeles, he wrote computer

interface code that allowed the U.S. computer to control all of the signals in the

Olympic Village during the 1984 Olympics. He is now retired and has a new career

with MUFON as a Field Investigator. He has held the position of Chief Field Inves-

tigator and has been assigned the position of Assistant State Director for Idaho.

He states he has interests in many diverse areas including science and world re-

JOURNAL: How long have you been with MUFON?

JIM: I have been with MUFON for one year.

JOURNAL: What brought you to join the organization?

JIM: I have had a lifelong interest in UFOs. I was working a part time job and that allowed me to pay for the FI Manual and testing.

JOURNAL: That’s good. You state in your bio that you worked as a com-puter IT specialist. What career skills have you brought to the table that have been useful in your work for MUFON?

JIM: My understanding of comput-ers and how they work has made my research on the Internet easy and fruitful.

JOURNAL: Do you have a favorite case that you personally investigated?

JIM: Not yet. Many have been knowns. The unknowns have been mostly TR3Bs or just anomalous lights in the sky.

JOURNAL: Yes, many of them are. Did that case shape your views on UFOs at all?

JIM: No, my views have remained the same. I believe UFOs are real and many are from off planet. I do believe that some of the unknowns are secret projects from right here at home.

JOURNAL: You could be right on that account. What historical case would you have liked to have investigated?

JIM: Actually, there are two. Roswell

and Bentwaters. I feel these are the two most important cases in history.

JOURNAL: I agree, they are import-ant cases. How does Idaho rank as it relates to sightings? Is it a hotspot or pretty quiet?

JIM: Actually, Idaho is usually very quiet. Recently we have been getting many cases. Most of them have turned out to be known objects.

JOURNAL: In your bio you relate that you are interested in science. There are some in the scientific community who scoff at the idea that ufology is a science. How do you think that ufologists can combat the per-ception that UFOs are not worthy of study?

JIM: Ufology is definitely a science. There have been many cases where physical evidence was left behind. Also, the area of the case can display many anomalous characteristics: Trees broken in unusual patterns, unusual radiation, hydrophobic ground, and other unexplainable things. With this evidence in hand I do not understand how any intelligent person can deny there is at least a possibility of UFOs being real.

JOURNAL: Those are valid points that may be overlooked by the general public. Besides science, you have an interest in studying world religions. How has this shaped your view of UFOs and the abduction experience?

JIM: My belief is that science is the study of how God may have done things. It does not contradict a su-preme being. Science just gives us an insight into that being. Believing in

UFOs has not altered my belief sys-tems at all, just strengthens them.

JOURNAL: Going further, it has been said that disclosure would col-lapse society and religions as we know them. What is your opinion on this?

JIM: I feel that disclosure will bond the many different peoples of the Earth. I feel we will all come together to greet and learn from the off-world visitors. I do agree with Dr. Greer that the ETs are not here or coming here to do us harm. They are more concerned with our inability get along among ourselves.

JOURNAL: Let’s hope so. Do you think the government knows more than they are telling? Do you think disclosure will happen?

JIM: Definitely, the U.S. government and many other governments know much more than they are telling us. Poor us, we just can’t handle the truth. Yes, disclosure will be forced on the governments of the world. The worst thing that might happen is if the peo-ple feel they can no longer trust their government. Disclosure must be han-dled very carefully so that the masses will not feel betrayed by those that are supposed to be protecting them.

JOURNAL: The mistrust in the gov-ernmental agencies seems to be hitting the tipping point for some reason. Thank you very much, Jim, for sitting down with us for the One-On-One. Very insightful interview. l

So, what’s going on? You Decide. It seems almost easy to allocate many of these cases to military training, but it’s not a clean answer. If it’s “Us,” then the government is illegally conducting these highly risky and dangerous exercises at a great cost. Is it as simple as jets and helicopters following a lead

helicopter with lighted blades? Military personnel chas-ing unusual drones? Seems there’d be a safer way. If it’s “Them,” then what’s the purpose? Surveillance? Steering? Showing muscle? Whatever the answer is, we are left in the dark, with more questions than we started with. Only with the continual accumulation of data can we try to solve this mystery. We encourage anyone with information or reports that involve military intervention to report them to MUFON. l

Recent DevelopmentsAs of August 2017, astronomers were searching for a binary neutron star system in NGC 4993, a galaxy about 130 million light years away in the Hydra constellation. If they find colliding neutron stars, they may also make an optical discovery as well.

Colliding neutron stars, unlike black holes, would emit light in the visible wavelengths of the spectrum in addition to gravitational waves. Perhaps it’s time to reposition and refocus the Hubble Space Telescope.

To date, the results have been puzzling. It seems that the black holes observed so far aren’t like the ones that we are famil-iar with in the Milky Way. “No matter what happens, they don’t look like the ones in our galaxy,” said study author Will Farr from the Birmingham Institute for Gravitational Wave Astronomy. “It will be weird and exciting.”

    4

The SignificanceNow we get to the potential application of gravitational waves to exotic innovations that could ultimately affect all of us. Science has proven that gravitational waves exist. We have learned that gravitational waves cause spacetime to curve or bend. If we could create and control gravitational waves (via a gravitational wave “generator”), we could control spacetime. The control of spacetime would have several applications — all of which are of more than just considerable interest.

Doesn’t this sound familiar? It should, as more often than not we have heard about the positive (and negative) theories of the warping of spacetime from more than one source (Lazar

    5, Cook

    6, McCandlish7, Rich

    8, Loder

    9, LaViolette

10, et al.) over the last 28+ years.

Perhaps the naysayers are wrong, and less well-known scientists of one of the government’s laboratories were aware of gravitational waves some time ago and have already put them into use. What does that mean, exactly? This means that if one were able to control spacetime, one could travel a few feet away, to the other side of the Earth or to locations bil-lions of light years away. And, according to the late Ben Rich (former president of Lockheed Martin’s “Skunk Works”), it wouldn’t take years to get there. Essentially, controlling spacetime would allow the traveler to create and travel through the equivalent of an artificial “wormhole” to anywhere.

For his book, Nick Cook interviewed Dr. Dan Markus, a physicist at one of the UK’s best-known universities (Cambridge?). Dr. Markus was quoted as saying, “When you bend space, you also bend time.”

    11 Hey folks, we’re talking
