MICRO CONTROLLERS FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN (Common to Embedded Systems, VLSI & Embedded Systems )

Time: 3 hours Max. Marks: 60

Answer any FIVE questions All questions carry equal marks.

--- 1.a) Explain the architecture of Motorola 68HC11. b) Compare the features of Intel’s 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers. 2.a) Explain the memory organization of Micro Chip PIC 16C6X.

b) List non maskable and maskable interrupts in 68HC11. Draw a table of Interrupt vectors according to hardware priority of each source groups.

3.a) Discuss briefly about the timers in PC 16C6X.

b) Justify the statement “once the watchdog timer is enabled (disabled), it is not possible to make it off (on)”.

4.a) Explain the different addressing modes supported by 8051.

b) Write a program to generate a square waveform with a period of 2 msec using 8051.

5.a) Discuss briefly about serial I/O devices.

b) Write short notes on Interrupt vectors and priority. 6. Explain briefly about Ethernet protocol and SDMA. 7. Explain the design of embedded system using 8051 for industrial

control. 8. Write short notes on any TWO of the following:

a) Channels and IDMA simulation b) PWM c) IAP features.
