MTA Course Waiver Request (Updated 20160614) MTA Waiver Form Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) students may apply for a waiver of required courses or credits after submitting their deposits to secure their seats in the program. The waiver allows a student to either waive up to 6 credit hours or waive required course(s). Required Course Waiver To be eligible for a required course waiver, a student must provide evidence of successfully completing equivalent graduate-level coursework. A copy of the equivalent graduate course syllabus AND an official transcript showing the grade earned are required. Transcripts should be sent directly to: Tourism Administration The George Washington University School of Business 2201 G Street, NW, Funger Hall, Suite 301 Washington, D.C. 20052 In addition, equivalent coursework must meet the following criteria to be considered: Completed at a regionally accredited college or university Graduate-level and credit-bearing Completed within five years from the date of matriculation Earned a grade of B or better Please note: Students must apply for a waiver prior to the first day of their first semester in the MTA program. Applications will only be considered when accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e. transcripts, syllabus, certificates, etc.) on or before the deadline. Undergraduate coursework and/or degrees do not count toward required course waiver requirements. Credit Waiver To be eligible for a credit waiver, students must provide evidence of having completed one of the International Institute of Tourism Studies (IITS) certificate programs: Event Management Certificate Destination Management Certificate Sport Philanthropy Certificate Tourism and International Cooperation for Development Course /Cooperation with United Nations World Tourism Organization Students who meet this criteria will have 3 of the required or elective credits reduce for the total MTA degree requirements.
