22361 RN: Flag Print• Cut (1) 9 ½" x WOF strip. Recut strip into (2) 6 ½" x

9 ½" C rectangles.

22364 S: Gold Blender• Cut (2) 1 ½" x WOF E strips for D-E and E-P strip sets.• Cut (1) 2 ½" x WOF strip. Recut into (16) 1 ½" x

2. Referring to Diagram 2, select and join 3 D-E units with a D2 square to make a pieced strip; press. Sew a G strip to opposite long sides of the pieced strip.

3. Join 2 D-E units with a D2 square and an F rectangle (Diagram 3); add this strip to 1 G side of the pieced strip; press seam toward G.

4. Sew an H strip to an I strip and add to the right end of the pieced strip; press seams toward I and H. Add J1 to the F end and L to the H end of the pieced unit to complete thetop half of the block.

5. Join 1 D-E unit with a D2 square and add K and then F; press seams toward D2 and K and then F. Add I and then H and sew a second H to the F side and add L to the I/H side; press seams toward H and L.

6. Add an M square to the H side to complete the bottom half of the block; press seam toward M.

7. Join the top and bottom halves to complete 1 Center Panel block; press seam toward the top half of the block.

8. Repeat steps 2–7 to complete a second Center Panel block.

9. Repeat steps 2–7 referring to Diagram 7 to complete 2 Reversed Center Panel blocks.

Completing the Quilt Center:

1. Sew a J1 strip to opposite long sides of 2 B panels; press seams toward J1. Add a J2 strip to the top of 1 B-J1 panel and to the bottom of the second panel.

2. Referring to Diagram 9, sew a Center Panel block to 1 side and a Reversed Center Panel block to the opposite side of 1 B-J1 panel to complete the top row of the pieced section; press seams toward the B-J1 panel. Repeat, reversing the placement of the blocks, to make the bottom row. Join the 2 rows with the N strip to complete the bottom section; press seams toward N.

3. Join 2 B panels with 2 C rectangles and 3 Q strips, keeping B panels upright to make a side panel; press seams toward Q strips. Note: Refer to Diagram 10 for remaining step in this section.

4. Join the A panel and the bottom section with the R strip; press seams toward R. Join this pieced section and the side panel with the S strips and add T strips to the top andbottom to complete the quilt center; press seams toward S and T strips.

Completing the Corner Blocks:

1. Sew an F rectangle to an O rectangle to make an O-F unit; press seam toward O. Repeat to make 8 O-F units.

2. Sew the P strip to the remaining E strip along length to make an E-P strip set; press seam toward P. Recut the strip set into (8) 1 1/2" E-P units.

3. Sew an O rectangle to an E-P unit to make an E-P-O unit; press seam toward O. Repeat to make 2 E-P-O units and 2 reverse E-P-O units.

4. To complete 1 Corner block, join 1 E-P-O unit and 1 O-F unit with an O rectangle to make the top row; press seams toward O. Repeat to make the bottom row referring to Diagram 13 for positioning of units and pieces.

5. Join the top and bottom rows with an L strip to complete 1 Corner block referring to 14 for positioning. Repeat to make a second Corner block.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make 2 Reverse Corner blocks.

Quilt Assembly:

1. Join the gold blender U/V/Y strips on the short ends to make a long strip; press seams to 1 side. Recut the strip into (2) 1 ½" x 46 ½" U, (6) 1 1/2" x 42 ½" V and (4) 1 ½" x 48 ½"Y strips.

2. Repeat step 1 with the blue blender W/X strips and recut to make 6 each 1 ½" x 42 ½" X and 1 ½" x 48 ½" W strips. 3. Sew a U strip to opposite long sides and a V strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center; press seams toward strips.

4. Join 3 W and 2Y strips along length, alternating colors to make a W/Y side strip; repeat. Press seams toward W. Sew these strips to opposite long sides of the quilt center;press seams toward strips.

5. Join 3 X strips with 2 V strips to make the top strip; repeat to make the bottom strip. Press seams toward X.

6. Sew a Corner block to 1 end and a Reverse Corner block to the opposite end of each strip referring to the quilt cover drawing for positioning of the blocks; press seams away from the blocks. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center, again referring to the quilt cover drawing for positioning; press seams toward the strips.

7. Join the red blender Z/ZZ strips on the short ends to make a long strip; press seams to 1 side. Recut the strip into 2 each 1 ½" x 58 ½" Z and 1 ½" x 54 ½" ZZ strips. Sew the Z strips to opposite sides and ZZ strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center to complete the quilt top; press seams toward strips.

8. Join the 2 ½"-wide red blender binding strips with diagonal seams, trim seams to ¼" and press open to make a long strip.

9. Remove the selvage edges from the backing pieces. Join the 2 backing pieces along the 68" edges using a ½" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim backing to 62" x 68".
