The School Captains for 2018 are:

Lachlan Robinson

Ocearna Matthews When reflecting upon this year some particularly significant events come to mind, making 2017 a very memorable one. Some of these events include: The continued commitment of our families to support their children to attend the many extra curricula activities that we do, for example line dancing in the ‘KAOS’ show, the town ANZAC Day March, the paper plane competition in Education Week, the annual Book Fair and Character Parade, our Family Fun Day and other many and varied excursion opportunities. We always outshine other schools in the percentage of our children who come along and attend such events, and that is because of you, the parents and families, who value these opportunities for your children and prioritise getting your children to such events. The amazing efforts of the school’s P&C in fundraising, leading to the forthcoming building of new play equipment to enrich playtime for our students. The retirement of Mrs Jill Purivs, the appointment of Mrs Harris, the farewelling of Mr Walsh, Mrs Doust and Ms Connor. Special thanks to our non-teaching staff; Mrs Bower, Mrs Griffiths, Mr Marshall, Mrs Turner, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Holz; without whom our school would grind to a

shuddering holt! As we look forward to planning the educational opportunities for your children in 2018, and we pride ourselves in creating a school culture where each student is known, valued and cared for in a nurturing educational setting. Have a safe and happy Christmas break. We look forward to 2018, ‘educating our students for a changing tomorrow’; in the dynamic and happy educational community that is Mt Pleasant Public School.

Year 6 Farewell Assembly The Year 6 Farewell Assembly was held on Monday. It was a very moving and happy send off for Year 6 students. The Year 6 students spoke very well as they reminissed on their time in primary school. They received a dictionary or atlas (their choice) courtesy of the P & C and a farewell certificate. The Year 6 students had a photographic display and Mrs Robinson presented a slide show to showcase the students. Once the assembly concluded there was the cutting of the Year 6 farewell cake, provided by the P&C. It is hard to believe that it’s time to farewell the Year 6 graduating class of 2017. We are also farewelling some of our treasured families who have had very long and productive relationships with the Mt Pleasant learning community; including the Brock Family, the Palmer Family the Bates Family.

Farewell Interview with Ms Connor What is your favourite memory of MPPS? My favourite memories are seeing the children dressed up as book characters on Book Fair days. They are so creative and original. What is your favourite book? ‘My Two Blankets’ is very special. It is beautifully illustrated and very meaningful. Why is that your favourite book? I love the way that even though you can be different, you can still belong. How long have you been a library teacher? I became a library teacher fifteen years ago. I have been lucky enough to be working at MPPS all that time! What is your favourite thing about being a librarian? I just love books and I really love to see the children taking an interest in reading. No matter where you are, you can always get lost in a story. You can learn so much from reading about people’s lives. By Ocearna and Madeline

Year 6 Farewell Disco On Monday the disco, held at Mt Olive Hall, was a fun and energetic night for the students. The Year 5 students and parents decorated the hall beautifully, adding to the party atomsphere. What a fun and enjoyable evening. Many thanks for your support and DJ Nathan!

Last Day Activity We are planning to take the whole school K-6 to the Singleton Cinemas on the last day of school, Friday 15th December 2017.

MiniLit Awards
