Construction Update 2
2
Due to the construction of the new McCain Centre – future home to our
faculties of Communications Studies, Business Administration, Tourism and
Hospitality Management, and Women’s Studies along with new classrooms,
meeting areas, and event space – pedestrian pathways from Rosaria to
EMF have been closed. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in
using alternate routes (College Road, Seton Road) in order to maintain a
safe environment on campus.
Members of the Mount community are invited to join in on the official launch
event for the McCain Centre from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April
9. A ceremonial sod-turning will take place at the construction site behind
the EMF to be followed by a reception in the Multi-Purpose Room of
Rosaria. Call 457-5546 or email [email protected] to confirm your
attendance.
For more information about the construction of the McCain Centre, including
frequently asked questions, the project timeline, and an updated campus
map, please visit msvu.ca/construction. For specific questions, email

Healthy Eating & Active
Are you passionate about maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle but find that you’re being met with barriers on campus? Be part of the solution! And together, let’s invigorate the Mount with health! Beginning shortly, in partnership with the MSVU Wellness Committee, the Development of a Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyle Strategy for the MSVU Community project will be initiated. This project will be seeking up to 25 participants to engage in a collaboration group over the coming year to identify issues surrounding healthy eating/active lifestyles, generate ideas for strategies and resources, develop a plan of action, implement strategies and resources and evaluate outcomes based on indicators established within the development process. Please stay tuned for opportunities to be involved in this project and to
voice your opinion about creating a healthier campus environment.
This project is partially funded by the Department of Health and Wellness
through Thrive!, a plan for a healthier Nova Scotia, Grant.

Art Gallery
Steve Higgins Artist in Residence: March 6th - April 19th
For nearly four decades, Steve Higgins' architecturally inspired sculpture and graphic work have evoke post-industrial
dystopias. Through this residency, Higgins will have the opportunity to realize a room-seixed, three-dimensional
structure based on his charcoal drawings. Throughout his residency, Higgins will host open studio days on
Wednesdays and Thursdays to invite the public into his process. During gallery hours, visitors to the mezzanine gallery
will be able to observe from above his creation of an increasingly impossible architecture. Students are also invited to
the art gallery for free coffee and muffins with Steve Higgins on the following dates: March 13th, 20th, and 3rd.
Chromophilia: March 16th—May 21st
"Chromophilia" is a neologism meaning "love of colour." The aesthetic priority given to colour is the quality shared by
recent acquisitions from Peter Dykhuis, Lucky Rabbit Pottery and Suzanne Swannie. Opening Reception March 16th
from 3pm to 5pm
Career Planning Services
The Job Finding Club Career Planning Services invites senior year students who will be graduating in the Spring or Fall to join the Job Finding Club. This unique program is designed to provide graduating students with the tools and support needed to help them locate and secure employment. It assists students in areas of self-assessment, networking, resume and
cover letter writing, how to access the hidden job market and what to do with your degree.
The Job Finding Club is offered in a four half-day (morning) program at the end of the Winter term (late April). This year’s dates will be Monday, April 29, 2013 – Thursday, May 2, 2013. Space is limited, so sign up today! Registration in
advance is required. Please register in Evaristus 218 by April 17.
