rEACTIon To ThE FAIrMartin Kocourek, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic:It is absolutely essential that the Czech Republic invests in innovation. Our aim is to draw 90 billion crowns from European funds by the year 2015. As far as the economic sit-uation goes, the current signals and the attendance at the fair indicate that the worst is already behind us. I greatly appreci-ate the interest in taking part in the International Engineering Fair in Brno seen from Russian companies. I am an advo-cate of pragmatic and mutually advantageous co-operation between partners from the Czech Republic and Russia.

Juraj Miškov, Minister of the Economy and Construction of the Slovak Republic:I am delighted that Slovakia is again represented at the 52nd MSV in Brno in a significant manner. I consider this trade fair an important event, where we can gain a measure of the competitiveness of the companies taking part at a single time and place. Not only can we become acquainted with the latest innovations here, but the fair also offers the chance of their testing from the viewpoint of the trade community. Only such a direct comparison with the competition can give us a real picture of their true capabilities. Slovak companies are interested in exhibiting at MSV in Brno because the fair maintains a stable position every year as a professionally organised industrial trade fair.

Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Minster of Economy and Labour of the Federal Land of Saxony-Anhalt:Saxony-Anhalt was represented at this year’s MSV by the cluster Engineering and Investment on a joint stand along with Thuringia and Saxony. A delegation of another sixteen companies found partners at MSV among Czech compa-nies at the event for co-operation talks. The response was extremely positive. I saw for myself during my look round the fair and my talk with Minister of Industry Martin Kocourek that MSV’s broad scope offers excellent possibilities for establishing and deepening economic co-operation. I am, therefore, convinced that the Federal Land of Saxony-Anhalt will be represented in Brno once again next year.

Christoph Plank, Commercial Attaché at the Austrian Embassy in the Czech Republic:Taking part in MSV is a source of important information about the Czech market for Austrian exhibitors. Becoming established on a new market is always something of a long-distance run, and it goes without saying that mounting a presentation at a trade fair is just an initial step that must be followed up with other activities. The very fact that the exhibition centre is packed gives good expectations for mak-ing useful contacts. The most important contract event held on the occasion of the Austrian partnership to MSV 2010 was the Gathering of Austrian and Czech Companies in Ecological Technology – Austria Showcase Umwelttechnologie. We believe the event to have been extremely positive. A number of Austrian companies came here with patented products, and this unique technology gives our Czech partners an opportunity to improve their own competitiveness. Those taking part were satisfied with the contacts made, and some of the meetings held here seem to be heading towards long-term partnership.

Viktor Sigl, Provincial Councillor of Upper Austria:There is extremely intensive co-operation between Upper Austria and the Czech Republic, which is our fourth largest foreign trading partner. Trade in the area of engineering has increased by 17.3 % over last year, though this growth must be driven by technologically advanced companies if it is to continue into the future. The International Engineering Fair makes a useful contribution here, since the companies from Upper Austria whose stands I have visited here certainly have plenty to offer their Czech partners.

Petra Bohuslav, Provincial Councillor of Lower Austria:We greatly appreciate our partnership with the Czech Republic and would like to continue to expand this co-oper-ation into the future. I visited nine companies from Lower Austria here, and they all told me that MSV is the most important trade fair for the Eastern European market and for contacts with new EU members. It is also an important place for the economic policy of Lower Austria, since the Czech Republic is our third most important foreign trading partner. Engineering is a key area of this co-operation, and it is a posi-tive sign that trade is again on the increase following last year’s decline.

Xavier Eguren, Vice-president of the European Association of Manufacturers of Machine Tools (CECIMO):The machine tool and forming machinery industry has been affected by the economic recession extremely seriously, though current figures now indicate a revival. The way out of the crisis lies in innovation, and CECIMO aims to identify and recommend perspective paths of development. The Czech machine tools industry is extremely successful in terms of this innovation process, and I would like to congratulate the Association of Engineering Technology on its great work, which is reflected in the IMT 2010 exhibition. I am sure that the event will prove extremely useful for our branch of industry.

Leoš Mačák, Deputy Director of the Association of Engineering Technology:The gloom evident at last year’s event has ended, to be replaced by mild optimism. The excellent attendance at the IMT exhibition and the large number of business talks held on the exhibition stands provide good evidence of a gradual improvement in the situation in the industry. We see the participation of large numbers of foreign exhibitors as another positive signal.

David Jakubík, Sales Manager, TOS VARNSDORF a.s.:We are extremely satisfied with this year’s IMT. Our stand was visited by a great many people – three times as many as last year at a guess. This means that we were on the go practically non-stop throughout the entire duration of the fair. We took advantage of the event to hold planned meetings with our customers and business partners. We also succeed-ed in closing a number of business contracts right here at the fair. The fair was definitely useful to us, and we can consider this year’s event a success. This fair in Brno was indisput-ably the best of all the foreign trade fairs and exhibitions that I have attended this year.

Page 9: MSV 2010ccft-fcok.cz/msvfr/dokumenty/zaverecna-sprava-MSV-2010...Flame welding, surfacing and oxygen cutting machinery and equipment 14.1% Arc-welding, surfacing and cutting machinery

Petr Hrubý, Office Manager, Profika.cz:We have been taking part in the IMT exhibition on a regular basis for many years now, and we are glad to see that the visiting attendance has increased considerably in comparison to last year. We were extremely satisfied in this respect. We also held provisional talks on a number of contracts, and we will have to wait and see how they turn out. New custom-ers came to visit our stand – not merely people having a look round, but also people with a real interest in our machinery, and this is important. We also took advantage of the fair to hold business talks with established customers and new customers alike. We were so busy at the exhibition centre this year that we didn’t even have time to have a look round ourselves.

Petr Mašek, Executive Director, Pilous – pásové pily, spol. s.r.o.:The global revival in the engineering industry market over the last six months has certainly been evident at this year’s MSV. The level of interest shown in our company by visitors was larger than last year –there is practically no comparison. It is obvious that people want to invest in machinery again, even in larger and more expensive machinery. We sold several saws and closed new contracts during the fair. I am glad to see the situation beginning to return to normal.

Josef Kocián, Commercial Director, GALATEK a.s.:We have been taking part in the fair for seventeen years now. It is still rather early to make a complete assessment, and the business effect of the event is difficult to estimate as we do not put exhibits on display in our production seg-ment, but draw up specific proposals to meet the wishes of specific customers. Nevertheless, we saw a decent number of new contacts and demand inquiries at the fair, and some of them look extremely interesting.

Jiří Němeček, Commercial Representative, RÖSLER Oberflöchentechnik GmbH:We come to Brno primarily to see our Czech customers, who made up the majority of the visitors to our stand. They were particularly interested in our technological innovations. We are all satisfied with this year’s fair, and in business terms we have a number of interesting orders.

Jaroslav Kopřiva, Chief Application Engineer – Welding and Cutting, Market Development, Linde Gas a.s.:Taking part in the fair is primarily a matter of prestige for our company. We are visited by our regular customers, here and there we close a new deal, but not to the extent seen in pre-vious years. We promote our technical gases at the fair, and try to satisfy each individual customer.

Rudolf Hrabina, Welding Instructor, ESAB VAMBERK, s.r.o.:We signed some contracts right here at the fair and sold two oxy-cutting machines, which we are extremely happy about, as results like this are far from guaranteed. Sometimes it’s a long-distance run involving communication with the cus-tomer regarding the sale for as much as a year. I have been attending trade fairs for ten years now and I haven’t noticed any fundamental change, just the difference between Monday and Friday, which were weaker in terms of visiting attendance, and the middle of the week, which was excel-lent in terms of the interest seen from visitors to our stand. Overall, I would say that our participation in the fair has been a great success.

Miloslav Šašek, Commercial Director, AIR LIQUIDE CZ, s.r.o.:I remember attending these trade fairs myself twenty years ago, so I am in a good position to judge how the event has changed and the approach taken by clients and by com-panies to their clients. In former times, this used to be the only place where customers could obtain large amounts of new information. Today, companies and suppliers visit their customers on their own premises, where they present their products to them. For us, attending the fair is something of a tradition. The company Air Liquide has attended all these events in the past and will continue to attend them in the future, since we see them as an opportunity to present our innovations in the field, to invite existing and potential clients, to make contacts and, it goes without saying, to enjoy the events as social gatherings.

Martin Meduna, Head of TechSupport National, Fronius Česká republika s.r.o.:Welding used to be a separate exhibition. Now it is linked to the International Engineering Fair for the first time in history, so this was a new experience for us. We consider our partici-pation here to have been extremely successful, not least in view of the fact that the visiting attendance was considerably higher than we expected, and we have made a large number of interesting new contacts. Another reason for the fact that we received good orders here is that Austria was partner country to the fair, and our company has an Austrian owner. This is just one reason why we see the fair as a good event and investment.

Erich Bartoš, The Department of Regional Development, The Regional Authority of the Moravian Silesian Region:We were satisfied with our participation in the fair. It was, most importantly, an opportunity to meet up with representa-tives of companies that operate in our region or that we are engaged in co-operation with. The fact that the Deputy President of the Region met up with representatives of the business community was also a success. They were offered investment opportunities for possible production expansion on this occasion. Our stand was also visited by representa-tives of companies supplying equipment and furnishings for towns and cities, which will be assessing their product ranges in the near future. I have to note that that linkage of the URBIS INVEST fair and MSV is an appropriate one for our region, since we have an industrial orientation, such as clus-ters, university innovation, etc., to which our participation in the fair corresponds.

Miloš Škorík, The Commercial Department of the Company MOSLED s. r. o.:The visiting attendance at FOND-EX has undoubtedly increased thanks to its connection with MSV, and this a defi-nite advantage. The clients we invited to the fair came to see us here. We are satisfied with our participation.

Radomír Zbožínek, Technical Director at the Company Tajmac – ZPS Zlín:The foundations of our company were laid 107 years ago by Tomáš Baťa, and if there was something fundamental to Baťa’s concept then it was certainly enormous support for research and development. We aim to follow this path, even in the current uneasy period. When the crisis struck, we were forced to make savings on all cost items. The only area in which we did not make cuts was research and develop-ment. We are, therefore, delighted that our efforts have been rewarded with an IMT 2010 Gold Medal awarded to one of the products we have developed.
