I love exams. Most people will give me a horrified look when I tell them this, but I really do like them. Gone are the days of juggling assignments, midterms and classes–we only have to focus on writing exams. For me, the key to managing exam stress is to stay true to myself. I make time every day to take a break from studying and do something that I enjoy. Something like going for frozen yogourt, spontaneously dancing in the living room, or a walk around the neighbourhood is perfect to give my brain some time to recharge and refocus. Make some time to do the things that make you happy, your marks depend on it.

Exams can be super overwhelming, especially when you don't know what to expect. The hardest part for me is that during exams there isn't anything else going on and the days can feel long and boring, and some-times finding the motivation to study is difficult when it seems like there's no end in sight.

One thing I like to do is reward myself after writing an exam. Buy yourself a starbucks drink or go to Yogurtys, and take an hour off to celebrate. Even if you feel like you need to get back to studying right away, taking some 'me' time really helps me de-stress and is usually worth it in the long run.

Thanks so much Sarah!

Thanks Josie! I’ll definitely take you up on getting Yogurty’s! Sp

Things are getting overwhelming. I have too many exams and don’t know how I’ll get through to the end. Any advice on how to cope with the stress?

For exam season my focus is on balance! I make a detailed study plan and treat each day as a 9:00 to 5:00 work day. This gives me free time in the morning and evening, and it also ensures that I get a good sleep.

The way I cope with exam stress is just stressing out with friends. When I am with my friends, all of the work turns into a joke and a common enemy that we can bond over and tackle together! Also-lots of McDon-ald’s runs - it's never too cold for a McFlurry.

I would definitely like to try this Jordan! Sp

That is super cool Sachin! McFlurry’s rock!

The end is near, I promise! For me, sitting in one spot all day studying makes me crave some sort of physical activity! No, going to the gym for 2 hours might not be feasible, but simply going for a quick run, dancing, or doing an at-home circuit tends to do the trick. I always come back to my schoolwork more focused, ener-gized, and motivated! Don't be so hard on yourself! Exam time is rough and we are only human. Keep studying and trying your best, but remember that at the end of the day, you are not defined by your grades. I like to remind myself that life is so much more than exams, and that tends to take some of the stress off. Exam time is not fun, but your holiday break will feel great when it's over! Good luck, you got this!
