INTRODUCTION
Kingdom: Plantae
Order : Gentianales
Family : Rubiacae
Genus : Morinda
Species : Morinda citrifoliaMorinda citrifolia L. also known as Noni or Indian
mulberry is a small evergreen tree. It is one of the most important traditional Polynesian
medicinal plants.
PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING
India is known for its rich diversity of medicinal
plants.
The bioactive compounds and medicinal power
mainly depends on phytochemical constituents that have
great pharmacological significance.
Phytochemicals are classified into two major groups
namely primary constituents and secondary constituents
MORINDACITRIFOLIA LINN AS ANTIOXIDANTS
Plants are the potential source of natural
antioxidants.
Morinda citrifolia L. its wide range of antioxidants
can be a major source of natural or phytochemical
antioxidants
Beta-carotene, ascorbic acid and alpha tocopherol are
the widely used antioxidants.
ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF MORINDA CITRIFOLIA LINN
Antibacterial activities Acubin, L-asperuloside, and
alizarin in the Nona fruit compounds are antibacterial
agents.
These compounds have been shown to fight against
infectious bacteria strains such as Pseudomonas
aeruginosa, Proteus morgaii, Staphylococcus aureus,
Baciillis subtilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and
Shigela.
MEDICINAL USES OF MORINDA CITRIFOLIA
Antioxidant / Anticancer Nitric Oxide Scavenging Activity Herbal Hepatotoxicity Antispasmodic / Vasodilator Activities Analgesic Activities Wound Healing / Antioxidant Antiviral / Cytotoxicity Apoptosis-Inducing Effects Antidyslipidemic Activities
AIM AND OBJECTIVESAIM:
The study was design to investigate the Phytochemicals
Antioxidants and Antimicrobial activities from different
parts of Morinda citrifolia plant.
OBJECTIVES: Phytochemical Screening Antioxidant activities Antimicrobial activities
MATERIALS AND METHODSPLANT COLLECTION: Fresh leaves, bark and fruits were collected from Thanjavur and different locations of Pudukkottai , Tamilnadu, India.
PREPARATION OF EXTRACT: Aqueous extract, Ethanol extract and Methanol extract.
RESEARCH METHODS: Safowara (1993), trease and Evans (1989) and Harborne (1973),FRAP and Disc Diffusion methods.

CONCLUSION
The present investigation on analysis of
Phytochemicals, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial
Activities of Morinda citrifolia were carried out at the
Food Quality and Testing Laboratory, IICPT, Thanjavur.
In this study phytochemical screening, the
antioxidant activities by FRAP method was carried out.
The antimicrobial activities of the plant extract were
also carried out.
