It is not enough just to be a good planner – it is also important to understand how to put various business processes in place with a view to supporting an effective supply chain. The Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme provides stu- dents with in-depth knowledge of methods for planning and controlling flows of goods and information in a supply chain. This includes a solid understanding of how to develop the necessary IT-based tools and how to design a strategy for supply chain management. COURSE OUTLINE The first semester features the following courses: Research Methods in Lo- gistics; Advanced Excel; Production Planning and Control; Supply Chain Management: Strategy and Design; Optimisation Methods; and Simula- tion: Modelling and Analysis. The second semester comprises the follow- ing specialising courses: Demand Management; Global Sourcing Strate- gies; Inventory Control; Distribution and Transportation; Supply Chain Performance Management; and Project Management with Accounting Perspectives. In the third semester, students can choose elective courses in their areas of interest. These can be taken at Aarhus University during the semester, at a partner university outside Denmark, or at the AU Summer University. Students can also participate in internship programmes in Denmark or abroad. The fourth semester is devoted to the final thesis. Students may choose their thesis topic freely and thus have the chance to concentrate on and specialise in a specific field of interest. CAREER PROFILE A typical first job for a graduate with an MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management involves specific analysis of logistical performance or the implementation of new logistical solutions. One possible career path is to start out as a logistics analyst, then progress to a project-man- ager position and eventually to an executive position with overall respon- sibility for business development. MSC IN ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS ADMIN. – LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT* PLANNING AND CONTROLLING A COMPANY´S ACTIVITIES The reason I chose to study logistics was the strong link between quantitative sciences and soft management ideas. I had no doubt that the importance of the science of logistics would grow in importance in future. I now work as a manager for the Forecasting Department in the Market & Operations Development area in the LEGO Group. I have the demand focus in our global Sales & Operations (S&OP), and develop model-based forecasting projects. I also lead a small team of analysts and manage the development of the SAP SCM (APO DP) system.
