Admission requirements
▪ BSc in Technical or Life sciences (or relevant management studies)
▪ Preferably related to agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, the food industry or similar fields.
▪ Grade Point Average of 70% of the maximum scale
▪ Fluency in English ( VWO 7/HAVO 8, Rater 70, for EU/Non EU: TOEFL, Cambridge, IELTS).
✓Students from Dutch universities are exempted.
✓Students from Dutch HBO, which are taught completely in English are also exempted.
▪ Good working knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics

You will become a professional who is able to deal with knowledge processes in dynamic contexts.

In your first year you will follow courses, in your 2nd year you will do a thesis, which consists out of writing a proposal, doing fieldwork and writing a thesis report. Next to a thesis you will do an internship, more info about that later.

At Wageningen University we have 6 periods per year. In each period you follow certain courses which you will finish at the end of the period with an exam. In February and in August you have the possibilty to do a re-exam of courses you did not pass

Your first year consist out of mandatory courses and free choice courses. In period 2, 4 and 5 you have three free choice courses of 18 ects in total. In period 5 you will choose your studytrack, depending on your choice you will do your thesis with a particular chairgroup .

The master study programme includes an academic internship of at least 24 credits ( 16 weeks). The internship is a learning period during which the relationship with professional practice is emphasized. The internship and supervision are usually provided by a third party outside Wageningen University. The internship must be conducted as a scientific level that is equivalent to that of an academically trained staff member of the internship provider. The internship must be completed with a scientific report that is evaluated with a mark given jointly by the internship’s supervisor of the university and the third party. Instead of an internship a minor thesis can be written with permission from the exam committee.

The master programme includes a thesis of a minimum of 30 ECTS and serves as the culmination of the study programme. The thesis is developed under the supervision of one of the four chair groups linked to the programme: Strategic Communication, Rural Sociology, Sociology of Development and Change, and Knowledge, Technology and Innovation group.

We have a very international group of students. A third of our students is Dutch, one thrid are EU students and the last third are non-EU students. Our students come from all over the world ( France, Greece, Italy, Uganda, Ghana, Nepal, Indonesia, Australia etc). Besides acedemic activities MDR students organize many activities themselves, which makes the group very close.
