the Wise and today retains many noteworthy monuments of its colorful past. City tour
includes the 16th-century Monastery of the Transfiguration and Church of Elijah the
Prophet. This church is situated in the town’s central square, and, perhaps, is the loveliest
of all of today's sights: frescoes on its walls and vaulting inside the church make it really a

Spassky Monastery ensemble, a group of majestic 17th-century cathedrals, an elegant
rotunda and remnants of an ancient trading center.
