About Me My background

I grew up in Castro Valley I attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received my B.A.

in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Marketing. Worked in the corporate world for 2 years and went back to Cal Poly to receive my Multiple Subject Credential.

My experience I’ve been teaching for 4 years. I have taught second and sixth and have directed teaching

experience in first and fifth. My Interests

I love to travel, play sports, hike, and spend time with family and friends

social skills they need to progress to 5th grade.

Management Program Kickback-Preferred Activity Time on Fridays

Raffle Tickets- Raffles take place on Fridays. Raffled items include coupons for sitting next to a friend, sitting at the teacher’s desk, lunch with the teacher and a friend, no shoes for the day, indoor recess with a friend, a free homework pass, time in another class to work with reading buddy

Program is focused on positive reinforcement

Our Schedule 8:25 School starts 10:00-10:15 Recess 12:30-1:10 Lunch 2:06 or 2:51School ends Students should not arrive before 8:10. There is no playground

supervision before this time. If you need to speak with me in the morning as we are starting our

day, please write me a note/send me an email.

Tardiness• School starts at 8:25 A.M. • If you aren’t in the line by the time, please

check in at the school office before coming to class.

• Please send your child to school on-time. I start teaching when we walk in the door.

Rules We will follow Frederiksen’s school

rules:

Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Use appropriate words and actions. Follow all school rules. Always do your best.

Daily Homework Math (M-F)

Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and special projects (M-Th, generally)

Review Packets as needed

Reading summaries will vary from 1-3 times a week

Homework To find out what homework has been

assigned, check the student planner.

Homework is written in the planner with the teacher at the end of the day.

Homework is due at the beginning of class. Students who do not turn in all of their

homework will attend our recess “study hall”. They will use their first recess time to complete their

homework.

Students with missing work, will also lose their preferred activity time on Friday. (This does not apply to students who are absent.)

A Missing Assignment Slip will be attached to your child’s Student Planner if homework is not turned in on time and completed. Please discuss the homework with your child, then sign and return the Missing Homework Notice the next day.

Missed Homework Please send a note written on the homework

assignment if:

there is a change in schedule at home (emergency, etc.) that prevents your child from finishing their homework;

there is an assignment that no one in your home is able help your child with.

Your note will excuse your child from study hall

Projects, Book Reports, etc.

Projects (book reports, book talks, posters, oral presentations, etc.) will be assigned periodically throughout the year.

I will send home a letter to families to let you know about the projects and due dates when I assign them.

Common Core Dublin Unified has adopted the new common core standards for

language Arts and Math Star Test will replaced with the Smarter Balanced Assessment

Challenges students to: Articulate their thinking and use more than one strategy

to find the correct answer Defend their reasoning by providing a justification for

their answer in math or textual evidence in language arts Typing skills are essential

As for supplies, We have a community supply system in Room 18.

Any supplies your child needs were on the supply list and have (in most cases) already been given to me.

I will provide any additional supplies needed in the classroom for my students.
