I feel honoured and blessed to be starting my third year as principal at this very energetic school. Our school continues to grow and flourish! I am excited about some staffing changes this school year. A warm welcome to all our returning staff and to the following new staff joining our team; Jocelyn Hay (SK FI), Xandi Neville (SK FI), Muriel Nahas (1/2 FI), Phuong Cu Nguyen (1/2 FI), Jeff Munroe (2/3), Jennifer Rahbek (3), Jana Tomcko, (G Gr 4), Melissa Johnston (5), Matthew Selby (Jr. LD ISP), Darren Overby (FI Primary), Vesna Zoldos (0.5 Gr. 7), Tom Watkins (Int. Core French), Andrea Harquail (G 5/6), Carol Shea (Vice- Principal), Charlotte Burke (LTO), Sarah Cain (EA), Alice Beer (SNA). I encourage you to have a look at our school website (Please follow us on Twitter!), Bowmore school council webpage and Facebook page as a way to stay connected with all the wonderful opportunities available to students and families. We also send out a monthly newsletter, in partnership with our school council, celebrating, informing, and recognizing staff, student, and community involvement. I invite all parents to be involved in our School Council by attending the school council meetings. We are grateful to our School Council for all that they do to support student achievement and well-being. School Agendas have been purchased and you will find a wealth of school information, including school code of conduct, to help you navigate the school year. We remain committed to communicating clear and concise expectations to support the on-going development of life-long learning. September is an exciting time for children. They are embarking upon a new school year with eager anticipation. They will forge new friendships, meet new teachers and learn new routines. Bowmore School is a safe and caring learning community that values parent involvement. Teachers will keep you informed of classroom activities and provide on-going communication when necessary. As well, please feel free to connect with your child’s teacher to share your ideas on how to help your child be more successful, or with any concerns with the classroom. If you are an existing volunteer at Bowmore, we would

like to remind you to check your date of issue on your Police Clearance form and complete the Annual Offence Declaration form that is located in the office. The signed Annual Offence Declaration is not valid if it is not in line to the date of issue on the clearance form.

Any community members new to Bowmore that wish to volunteer at the school need to complete the Police Check Clearance form that is located in the office. Please inquire in the main office for more details. Krista Baines Office Administrator

Students are not to be dropped off earlier than 8:35am.

Pick-Up

Students are to be picked up by 3:10pm.

And look for the Self-nomination form in your Bowmore Welcome

Package.

Forms are due Sept. 20th

and the first council meeting is Sept. 28th

POOL has begun!

Students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 receive

pool once every 5 day cycle. We encourage you to

assist your child with regards to their pool materials

(swimsuits & towels) as a way to develop their

organizational skills. Please discuss any special

requests with your homeroom teacher.

Monthly Newsletter

The Newsletter and any other important

information is Bowmore’s way of communicating with

our parent community. As of October the newsletter

will be sent via Synervoice Eblast through your email

account. In order to receive the newsletter, please

ensure that your email address is updated with the

office. If you wish to receive a hardcopy please advise

your homeroom teacher.

A reminder that we are a Gold Ecoschool and

we would like to reduce the amount of paper we

generate.

BOOK FAIR September 19th – September 22nd, 2016

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! What

better way to promote reading to our students and

fundraise for your child’s school library and classroom.

We invite your family to participate by purchasing the

latest and greatest in children’s books.
