Thank you to Andrew, Payton, Christine, Tyra and Rachel for representing our school at the area volleyball meet. Happy Birthday to Rachel! In this week’s class: In Math: We completed our Geometry unit by handing in our Right Angle assignment and writing a test. We began our Measurement unit. In Literacy: We continued working on our Literacy/ History combined unit and learned about the key players and motivations behind Confederation. We also learned how to write an effective “lead” and body paragraphs for a news report, and annotated a newspaper. In Other News: We made political cartoons, symbols and research documents in our History groups. Coming Attractions: In Math: We will continue our Measurement unit and will discover and use formulas for circle relationships. In Literacy: We will complete our Literacy/ History unit by creating colony/ social group newspapers, and by participating in a BNA debate. ISSUE NO. 9 MOUNT ALBERT PUBLIC SCHOOL Class Appreciations: Upcoming Dates: This week was Bullying Prevention and Awareness week, and we concentrated on understanding the perspectives of others. In history and literacy, we took a step back in time to the 1860’s in order to understand the motivations and experiences of different social groups during the time of Confederation. We also practiced listening attentively and sharing ideas to reach a group consensus, and worked in teams to decide who we would send to Mars if we were part of the Mars One mission. On Thursday, we attended a VIP presentation by the York Region police. Next week, we will be going on a field trip to Huron Heights for a special arts showcase on the morning of November 28. Have a wonderful weekend! Classroom News: This week, we learned a new game for DPA called “soccer- football.” Don’t forget that we have moved the due date for our 8 Box/ INS to December 19.
