Has your child been doing their homework and studying for tests?
Has attendance been poor?Is your child getting enough sleep
so they can pay attention in class?Does your child need better
organizational skills?
What if your child is struggling?
Parents need to have regular conversations with their teens and give them honest and accurate information about the many issues teens face.
Check-in with your children often. Ask about school: What is she learning about? What is his favorite subject? Least favorite? What tests or projects are coming up? What is going on with her friends?
Keep lines of communication open
Make use of daily opportunities to talk, like during dinner or while you are riding in the car.
Research shows that when parents are involved in their children’s education, the benefits include:
Higher grades
Better attendance and graduation rates
Better behavior and social skills at home and at school
Why does parental involvement matter?
Parental involvement helps children succeed in school and in life.

The PSAT is October
13th!What is the PSAT? •The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test) NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) are actually the same test, often written as the PSAT/NMSQT.
•The PSAT/NMSQT is underplayed, but becoming a National Merit Finalist is a great way to set yourself apart in the college admissions game.
•Numerous scholarships are available for National Merit Finalists.
•Many schools give National Merit Finalist students a 100% scholarship to cover tuition, room and board, and even a stipend -- this could be worth $100,000 over four years.
•PSAT/NMSQT could turn into a $100,000 scholarship for you!
• The End of Course Test (EOCT) is an academic assessment conducted by Georgia.
• Mandatory and requires a minimum score for graduation eligibility.
• Core subjects include Math 1, Math2, U.S. History, Economics, Biology, Physical Science, Ninth Grade Literature, and American Literature .
• The EOCT score comprises 15% of a student's grade in the course.
• Any violation or interference can result in the invalidation of scores of all students taking the exam on that subject.
• Interferences can include cell phones, mp3 players, reading books on the same subject as the exam, and talking.
EOCT’s
• Each year, students around the world who want to learn and achieve at the highest level become AP students.
• Through AP's college-level courses and exams, you can earn:
- College credit and advanced placement, - Stand out in the admissions process, - Learn from some of the most skilled,
dedicated, and inspiring teachers in the world.
Advanced Placement (AP classes)
All students are required to pass the Georgia High
School Graduation Tests to earn a high school diploma.
The tests covers only a sample of the knowledge and
skills that constitute a high school education.
Students begin taking tests in junior year. (11th grade)
and must pass each of the five areas: English/Language
Arts, Mathematics, Science,
Social Studies, and Writing by the end of their senior
year. (12th grade)

Extracurricular activities can help students discover hidden talents, meet people they might otherwise not encounter, learn about things outside their own environment, and also make school much more enjoyable.
Colleges and Scholarship foundations consider the extra-curricular involvement of the applicants most often equally as important as their academic grades.
Importance of Extra Curricular Activities
There are approximately 40 clubs and organizations on our campus.
Students are encouraged to find a few clubs of interest and maintain involvement throughout high school.
