Model United Nations Conference 2020
“Unearth Sagacity Through Deliberation”
Moti Ram Arya School initiated its first ever edition of Online Model
United nations (MRA MUN 2020) to commemorate the 24th death
anniversary of Sh. Hardayal Mahajan, Founder President MRA Senior
Secondary School. This conference, we believed, would encourage
students amidst the Covid 19 actuality, to acknowledge and enunciate
their opinions and solutions regarding the current social, economic and
political affairs in the world. While stepping into the shoes of the assigned
country’s delegate in the MUN, Students got an opportunity to grasp and
comprehend the status of their assigned country with respect to a
particular agenda.
And to our great pleasure, it indeed helped the students to widen the
scope of knowledge and culture debating skills!
In MRA MUN 2020, the following committees were simulated:
● Commission On Status Of Women(CSW)
● United Nations Human Rights Council(UNHRC)
● All India Political Parties Meet(AIPPM)

Pre-Event Preparations
Pre-event Preparations
WORK DURING THE FIRST 15 DAYS
In the wake of Covid 19 pandemic, coupled with lockdown, MRA
school resolved to organise Model United Nations Conference via the
Zoom application. The fore most step was to decide the members of
the MRA MUN team and their positions so as to smoothly execute the
MUN conference.
The MUN team and School authorities, thereafter, started to look for
adequate and competent chairs that could perform the required duties,
but not without a decision of the committees and councils that were to
be simulated the following month during the conference.
Finally, with a considerate amount spent on discussions, the
dates, committees, agendas, dress code and everything else got decided.
WORK DURING THE LAST 15 DAYS
The last half month of preparation was hard and stressful as forecasted,
but it allowed MRA MUN to be a success. The Invitation for MUN got
structured and was sent to more than 40 schools all around the tricity. At
that point in time a welcome email was sent to the delegates in order to
briefly explain what MUN is, what their respective role is and what they
are supposed to do. Along with this, there were references to research
sources, position papers and diplomacy techniques.
We tried our hard to attract more and more delegates and Social Media
helped our MUN to get popular. Then, seeing the functioning of the Zoom
application and the cultural programmes, invite for the Chief Guest,
handling of the training sessions was our main concern. In the end, the
overall viewing and checking of everything was to be done, in order to
ensure no smooth conduct of the MUN!!

Ishika Mehta
Secretary General
JOB DESCRIPTION
My duties as Secretary-General started exactly on October 10th
2020. My candidacy was put forward by the School Staff and
voted upon by the Organisational team.
The responsibilities of the Secretary-General, according to the
organisational scheme that was put in place by the MRA MUN
Team, provided that the SG would be the in charge of the
content or academic part of the conference, ranging from the
election of chairs, to the selection of agendas, speakers,
portfolio , committees etc.
WORK DURING THECONFERENCE
The first step was to look for adequate and competent
chairs that could perform the required duties, but not
without the decision of the committees and councils that
were to be simulated the following month. This task was
initiated roughly a day after my appointment and lasted for
a week. There was an online application process for the
chairs, and those applications arrived to the SG.
The Chair Team was compiled after the careful analysis
of the applications received. They were assigned
according to their preferences. In order to be able to
keep up with the demands of the recruitment schedule,
it was important for the chairs to decide up on the
agendas and portfolio as soon as possible. This was done
in less than 5days.
Projects were available online and ready for the opening of
registration by the mid October.
The date of the conference was decided and the team
gathered to discuss various issues involved in the
organisation of the conference.
As an SG the job is to coordinate the organisational part
of the conference with the academic part. The
conference week is very busy since the S G has to deal
with everything practically. It was very important to brief
chairs and for the whole secretariat to be on the same
page regarding the rules of procedure.
On the conference day, it was important for me as the SG to
be aware of what is going on in each committee. We had a
meeting at the end of the first day of the Conference so as
to ensure that problems can be timely addressed by me and
the fellow chairs.
After the conference, the main task was to compile the
reports and resolutions from chairs. As SG is the public
face for the delegates, I thanked the delegates for being
part of MRA MUN.I really hope I stood up to all the
expectations!
Event Managers
An event needs to be managed well if it wants to achieve its goals. Event management involves a whole heap of tasks; from the
mundane and simple to the stressful and complex. Any event wanting to deliver maximum results needs a good event manager.

Questionnaires’ Feedback
The Questionnaire used to conduct the survey amongst the participating
delegates and the executive board allowed us to move towards the optimal
evaluation and was done in order to guarantee high academic standards in all
areasoftheconference.Thequestionnaireusedwasanonymousandconsisted of a
set of basic questions, including the delegate’s committee and MUN
experience.
The second part had a series of questions concerning the fun sessions, the
Opening and the Closing Ceremony, and the Conference in general.
First of all, it’s our pleasure to report that the classification of the MRA
MUN 2020 as a ‘ Major Success’ by the organisational team is clearly
confirmed by all surveyed participants .
The first ever edition of MRA MUN Conference hosted a total of 60
delegates and 7 Executive Board Members. The Secretariat staff summed
up to 10, consisting of 7 members of the organizational team!
The average MUN experience amongst all the participants is of particular
importance. We tried to strike a balance between the need to attract new and
inexperienced students to our MUN while still keeping the academic quality
and level of experience as high as possible. However, the stats show that most
of the participants were first timers and we are particularly proud of having
attracted so many delegates in the first virtual edition of MRA MUN
conference for the year ‘2020’.
The major strong points were:
● The Ceremonies were smooth despite being handled on Zoom!
● The Executive board, had been friendly and informative at the
same time for all the delegates!
At this we shall conclude by hoping that you, dear reader, have now gained a
better insight into the efforts behind this year’s event.
We thank you for your attention and with best regards,
MRA School Team and Secretariat
MRA MUN 2020.
POST EVENT DEALINGS
After the conference, we had some meetings to sum up all
the work and agree on the overall satisfaction feeling we
got from the delegates and the chairs. We talked about our
weak points and hoped the second edition to be much more
successful.
The responsibility for evaluating the questionnaires
handed out to the delegates, calculating the necessary
statistics and confirming the transactions made for the
event was to be taken.
Furthermore, the major task was to compile the reports of
the chairs into the final report of the event, which will
serve as a basis for the next year's events as well as a
feedback to organizers!
GENERAL COMMENTS
Well, MRA MUN was indeed a great success!
Organising the conference was a long and hard task, but the
satisfaction derived was a consequence of the happiness of
all delegates. The social events seem to be successful as
well, receiving praise from almost all the delegates! We look
forward to keep the memories of the first edition of MRA
MUN conference alive and to keep our contacts with
everyone so as to ensure a successful MUN for the next year
as well.
