EXPOSITORY ESSAY PRE-WRITING

1. Narrow the prompt by highlighting key terms.

2. Underline the main topic for your essay.

3. Broaden the definition of the main topic by using a graphic organizer.

4. Provide two reasons that support your example.

5. Write a truism that reflects your definition of the main topic and the example that you provided. A truism is a statement that is obviously true and provides nothing new or different.

HOMEWORK

Complete the “Writing Modeled Instruction” revising/editing exercises worksheets. Pages 60-63. Then, look at the essay prompt on page 64 of the worksheet packet. Read the prompt and use the pre-writing skills we went over in class today to complete pre-writing exercises. You may use a separate sheet of paper or the back of page 64 for your graphic organizer. This is for a grade! Please do not lose these sheets and please remember to bring them with you on Thursday.

If you are rewriting your Holes Reader Response paper, you need to be working on those, as well. The revised papers are due on Friday, March 20.
