Objectives: The students will be able to plan a concluding paragraph by using the question/bullet form.

The students will be able to write one concluding paragraph of 5-7 sentences in length using specific nouns, verbs and adjectives.

Focus Lesson: Conclusions Review of Intro. Paragraphs Concluding Paragraphs

1. List the topic.2. List the things you learned as a result of

writing/research.3. List what you want your audience to learn, why

they should learn it. In other words, convince the audience that your thesis statement is true and the implications it might have on their lives.

4. Transform steps #2 and #3 into sentences.

Demonstration: drafting a concluding paragraph about being a great American.

Independent Practice: complete steps #1-#3 in the conclusion section of the essay plan.
