TRANSCRIPT
Mr. O’Geen’s Thoughts Wow! Just a couple more days until Winter Break. On behalf of the Copper Elementary School Staff I wish all our families a safe and happy holiday season.
This Friday we have some wonderful things going on. The PTC will be hosting an Honor Roll Brunch for students in grades three through six who received a 3.0 GPA or higher. Further, thanks to a donation from, the local Army Recruiters, we will be distributing a small gift to all children. Friday, should be a great day!
The New Year will be here soon, and I look forward to it. As we embark on 2020, lets shoot for the stars. Parents, students and staff can attain our goals by keeping and promoting ideals such as high academics, excellent attendance and modeling kindness. By working together and having an open line of communication we can make an incredible difference in our students’ lives. As always feel free to drop in to say hi. Have a wonderful December!

Thank You
With the end of the year coming, I wanted to express my gratitude to all who make Copper School a great place to be. Our staff treat children with kindness and are amazing advocates for our students. Our parents and communities support for our school and PTC is amazing. Further, the Calaveras County Office of Education, Calaveras County Behavioral Health, Mark Twain Union Elementary School District and its Board of Directors have been extremely gracious and supportive. Thank You All!
Gifts For Kids
Thank you US Army Recruiting Station Sonora for donating
gifts for our students on Friday December 12th. These presents definitely filled our
campus with smiles.
Attendance
As of late we have had an increase in absences, tardiness and early dismissals. Please remember how wonderful school is. While getting missing work from teachers is great, there is no substitute for lost school days. The instruction from the teachers and social bonds developed in class are the utmost of importance. However, if your child is unable to come to school please remember to call your child’s absences, to the office.
Student’s Corner
Some of our students have decided to start a program called Circle of Friends. Circle of Friends is a school inclusion program for students with disabilities of all ages that establishes an understanding and acceptance of differences on school campuses nationwide.
PTC
Our incredible Parent Teacher Club is continuing their amazing work. The process of purchasing and installing a commercial grade playground is momentous task, and they have diligently been working to make it a reality. Without the communities support in fundraising this project would not be possible, and for that I thank everyone in-volved. To date the students have voted and picked an incredible play structure. Our next step is to submit plans to the MTUESD
Employment Opportunity
The district is looking for bus drivers, mechanics, substitute teachers and para educators. If you are looking for temporary or permanent employment please contact us or the district office.
Coats For Kids
Thank you Rotary Club for the wonderful Jacket donation, our school, community and kids
appreciate you!
Science Camp Donation
Thank you Saddle Creek Woman's’ Golf Club, Saddle Creek Garden Club and the
Stretch Club who donated generous amounts of funds for our students to attend science camp.
This Is Cool!

December is National Stress-Free Family Holidays Month
The holiday season is already halfway through but for many, the stress is still building. While
the holidays are a time to rejoice and celebrate, let’s face it: this time of year can make
anyone feel like they are going crazy.
So one way to help eliminate or at least decrease holiday stress: let go of the idea of perfection.
Other ways to help with stress:
Plan ahead whether it is for traveling, shopping or hosting a party. Coming up with a schedule will help you visualize what needs to be done in the future.
Keep it simple. You can’t make it to every party or store you want (or feel obligated to go to). Decide what events are most important to you and maybe do some online shopping.
Ask for help. Try to delegate tasks so that you don’t feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Asking for help may make someone else feel needed. Also, talk to your doctor about how you can alleviate this stress, especially if it has become unhealthy.
Acknowledge your feelings. Anyone can feel down during this time of year, so recognize that stress is normal but try and think positively. Also try to identify what is making you feel stressed.
Stop and make time for yourself. It’s important to take the time relax and recharge. Read a book or go out and see the holiday sights. Just take a moment to breath.
Don’t forget, you are not alone in your feelings. Gifts and extravagant meals are nice, but the
best memories come from being around those you love. It can also be the best time to
reconnect with friends and family or to find new connections.
Copper Info
Families, please be mindful when it comes to nut allergies. If you are bringing in food for class festivities, please remember to check in with the office so we can ensure the safety.
If you are interested in subbing in the classroom, Library, Computer Lab, Yard, Office and/or Kitchen areas, please call Mandie in the office.
Messages for students should be received no later than 1:30pm, after that time we can not guarantee your student will receive the message.
