Letter from the MPSS Vice President

In July 2010, the Military, Public Safety and Security (MPSS) Division was established as the fourth division within

Florida State College at Jacksonville. The MPSS Division combines the programs, resources, staff, and faculty of the

Military Education Institute (MEI), Florida Security Institute (FSI), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH),

Fire Academy of the South (FAS), Criminal Justice Center (CJC), and the forthcoming School of Public Safety and

Security to create a unique organization that provides both credit and non-credit instruction.

A comprehensive array of college credit degrees and certificates, non-credit continuing education, and industry licensure

and certification programs are offered in public safety management, law enforcement, firefighting, maritime and seaport

security, hazardous material, and first responder education and training. There is a growing demand for our education and

training courses across multiple business segments and geographic locations. We are committed to expanding these course

offerings, enhancing our facilities, and building partnerships to most effectively meet emerging military, government, and

industry training requirements.

This inaugural annual fact book was designed to provide an overview of our programs and potentialities of the Military,

Public Safety and Security Division. It is my sincere hope that you find this report to be interesting and suggestive of future

collaboration with us.

Sincerely,

James W. Stevenson, Jr.

Rear Admiral (retired), U.S. Navy

Vice President

Military, Public Safety and Security Division
