There are sea time requirements to get your 200 ton mate or 200 ton master. Please see a career counselor if you have any questions about qualifying seaservice. If you have enough time but not on large enough tonnage the USCG may give you a 150 ton license while you earn your tonnage increase. If you haveheld your Master 100 ton license for a long time, you may qualify to skip the 200 ton and go straight for the 500 ton. It only takes 720 days while holding alicense and serving as Mate or Master with at least half of the sea time on a boat over 50grt. The USCG has proposed to change these requirements and increasethe amount of sea time and training in the future. We strongly encourage you to get the 500 grt license now if you qualify for it. Call us for details.
