What Today’s Is About

0 What we are sharing today has been “borrowed,” “stolen,” or thought of in the shower or at 2 a.m.! You have probably heard of some of them, used some of them, hated some of them, and maybe loved some of them.

0 We hope you can take away at least one idea you may want to try or recreate to use in your classroom.

Making It Mean Something

0 Mathematics is not just computation and getting the “right” solution. Mathematics involves problem solving, reasoning, communication, and making connections.

0 This comes through application and practice.0 Rich, independent activities students can be

completing while you are meeting with small groups…not busy work!

Your Task

0 Rules:0 Each group should have an envelope to start with. Open

the envelopes, find the clue cards, and pass them out to members of the group.

0 When you get your clue, you may look ONLY at your own clue. You may not look at anyone else’s. You may share your clue by telling others what’s on it, but you may not show it to anyone else.

0 If you have a question, you must check with your group first. If your group agrees that everyone has the same question, you may all raise your hands and we will come to assist you.
