    0.) GENERAL CUSTOMER INFORMATION

Safety related information are indicated by pictograms as follows:

    Warning!

Ignoring safety information can endanger life or result in serious injury!

    Caution!

Ignoring safety information can result in injury to persons or damage tomachinery or other materials!

    Take care!

Ignoring safety information can result in damage to machinery or other ma-terials!

1.) PREPARING THE BOILER FOR TRANSPORTATION

    - Unpack the boiler and dispose of all packing and storage protection materialaccording to the demands of environmentally friendly processing.

    - If the boiler shall not be unpacked totally because of a certain time span be-tween installation of boiler and installation of exhaust gas duct / surrounding

structure, remove the packing material at least at the lifting lugs and aroundthe boiler foundation.

    Take care !

After removal of packing material check the exhaust gas inlet and outletchambers for accessories stowed inside for transport reasons.

    - Carefully depressurize and subsequently vent the water/steam space in casethe boiler had been prepared for long-term storage by pressurized nitrogen fill-ing.

    Warning!

If the boiler had been filled with nitrogen under pressure, a substantialoverpressure may build up inside the boiler in case the boiler is exposed toa source of heat and to direct sun radiation. Sudden opening of anyblinded connection on the boiler body may lead to rapid expansion of thecontained gas.

    - Check the fixing screws/bushings of the counter plates which are deliveredpre-mounted to the boiler feet.If bushings are mounted, the base plates are fixed in final location and can bewelded without readjustment.

    Take care!

If the M10 fixing screws are moving only by applying strong force this is asign for misalignment of the counter plates. In such case loosen and re-move the fixing screws and subsequently realign the counter plates beforeplacing the boiler in its final position. Otherwise the fixing screws may notbe removed any more once the boiler is in place.

2.) TRANSPORT OF BOILER TO FINAL POSITION AND ADJUSTMENT IN PLACE

    2a) Horizontal designs CMB-HF and EME-HST

General arrangement of lifting lugs (on example CMB-HF boiler, EME-HST is similar)

    Warning!

Before lifting the boiler in any case check the lifting instructions providedwith the working drawings for center of gravity coordinates and actual loaddistribution on the lugs

    - Lift the boiler off the transport support (if applied)

    - Move the boiler to intended final location

    - Lower the boiler to about 50 mm above supporting structure

    - Check again the fixing screws as described in 1.)

    - If the counter plates are still in good alignment (fixing screws movingwhen light force applied), check alignment to exhaust gas duct andships axis and lower the boiler until the counter plates rest on deck

    - Fill in the inevitable distance between each counter plate and the sup-porting structure by adding lining plates or strips until the boiler restsfirmly on all 4 feet

    - Check again the fixing screws as described in 1.)

    - If fixing screws still move by slight force, weld the counter plates andlinings to the supporting structure, if not, realign the counter plates.

    - Remove the fixing screws/bushings and seal the holes in foot plates bywelding or by inserting of appropriate screws shortened to 10mm thread

3.) INSTALLATION OF EXHAUST GAS CONNECTIONS

-In case the boiler is delivered including counter flanges for the exhaust gasinlet and outlet duct, these flanges are tack-welded to the mating connectionson the boiler for transport reasons.

    - Remove the flanges prior to placing the boiler to its final position

    - Make sure that always a compensator is mounted between exhaust gas inletand outlet duct and the boiler inlet and outlet chambers

    - If a chemical dosing device for soot cleaning is delivered together with theboiler (optional item), please refer to SMS data sheet 3-0002-0026 for mount-ing instructions

4.) INSTALLATION OF BOILER MOUNTINGS AND INSTRUMENTS WHEN DELIV-ERED AS LOOSE ITEMS

    - In general always follow the mounting instructions for each single item whichare provided within the set of working drawings and/or together with theequipment

    - Install all mountings and instruments delivered as loose items according to thesingle item instructions

-Connect all external piping to the valves and fittings which represent an inletinto or outlet from the boiler

    - Wire all instruments to the associated control boxes or cabinets

    - Check the boiler insulation for possible damages which occurred duringmounting of the equipment and repair/replace accordingly

    - Arrange remote operation devices as shown in SMS data sheet 3-0001-0010and mount/adapt operation and maintenance platforms according to the condi-tions set by the surrounding ship structure.
