PIR’s ‘04schedule begins

with the annual NASCARWinter Heat (Jan. 24-25), followed a fewdays later by the Phoenix Historic GrandPrix (Jan. 30-Feb. 1). The four-race Indy200/Copper World Classic helps PIRcelebrate its 40-year anniversary of openwheel racing on March 21-23, while theGrand American Rolex Sports Car Seriesruns May 9-10, featuring a larger field ofDaytona Prototypes and the only nightrace on the PIR schedule.

Following a summer layoff, the 2004schedule takes the green flag again onOctober 2-3 with the second-annualNASCAR Doubleheader Weekend featur-ing NASCAR Winston West and FeatherliteSouthwest Series races. The season comesto a close three weeks later with the 17thannual Checker Auto Parts 500 NASCARNextel Cup Series race weekend (Nov. 4-7). The weekend includes the Bashas’Supermarkets 200 NASCAR Busch Seriesrace, the Silverado 150 NASCARCraftsman Truck Series race, and theCruise America 125 NASCAR FeatherliteSouthwest Series race. ■
