*Note that these are different sizes than the front
Removing the Bezel
Using a pry tool release the clips holding the bezel on the frame
Take your time with this process as you do not want to break any clips
Removing the Motherboard - 1
With the back housing removed, we can now disconnect the motherboard.
There are 3 connectors located on the top of the motherboard which will need to be removed first
Begin by removing the 2 POP connectors
The lower pop connector will be cover with adhesive tape
Now, release the JAW connector by lifting the black tab and pulling out the LCD flex cable
Removing the Motherboard - 2
We can now swing the motherboard to the left. Insure the camera is released from its socket using your fingers
Now, remove the final POP connector and remove the motherboard from the device
Removing the Metal Housing - 1
Using a Torx T3 screwdriver remove the 13 screws located around the outside edges
Removing the Metal Housing - 2Release this JAW connector located on the digitizer flex cable, hidden under a piece of black tape
Peel back the LCD & Touch screen flex cable away from the metal housing
Separating the Screens
The touch screen assembly (far right), LCD (middle) and metal housing (left) can now be separated
Removing the Digitizer from Front Housing
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outside edges of the touch screen. Warming the adhesive will make it much simpler to remove the old digitizer and reuse the front housing
Keep at medium heat, hovered about 2-3 inches away from the screen for about 30 seconds. Be sure not to stay in one location for too long – keep moving!
*Caution - The Droid X uses a metal front housing – so this will get HOT.

Removing the Digitizer from Front Housing
With the adhesive warmed, use a safe open pry tool to separate the touch screen (glass) from the metal front housing. Be sure to rewarm the adhesive if the glue becomes too difficult to separate.
Apply Adhesive to your New Digitizer Screen
Cut your 3m Adhesive in to strips and then place them onto the front housing.
Make sure to clean up any old adhesive left over on your front housing to ensure a clean and flush fit.
Remove the film from adhesive when you are ready to apply the new digitizer to the front housing
Be sure the adhesive is not too thick or showing within the viewing window when looking at the assembly from the front
Remove the screen protector located on the inside of your new touch screen replacement. Failure to remove this will cause sporadic touch screen behavior
Attach LCD to Touch Screen Housing
With the touch screen assembly fully assembled, place the LCD screen into the housing
Re-attach the Screen Assembly• Insert the keypad flex cable
into the connector on your new touch screen digitizer
• Be sure the cable is fully inserted and then close the jaw connector
• Re-align the flex cables onto the metal housing using the adhesive pads.
• Using your Torx T3 screwdriver, replace all 13 screws into the housing
Re-Connect the Motherboard
Reconnect all the connections shown onto the motherboard, beginning with the POP connector located on the underside of the motherboard and then the LCD JAW connector
Re-assembling Back HousingLock the back housing back onto the device by aligning the housing over the device and applying pressure to lock in the clips.
You can then replace all screws back into the device – front (4 longer screws) and back (2 shorter screws)
Final Steps! To complete your re-assembly you will just need to re-attach the top and bottom covers on the front of your device, replace your battery, Micro SD card, and battery
