ATC The Aprilia Traction Control system controls the amount of wheel spin depending on lean angle, radius of corner and the level of intervention selected. Its intervention is not by spark (as per other manufacturers) but by controlling the position of the throttle butterflies, this allows for smoother operation, greater control and feedback to the rider.

AWC The Aprilia Wheelie Control system manages the amount the bike wheelies under acceleration. The system does not measure the height of the front wheel off the ground, instead the system measures acceleration G-forces and compares front and rear wheel speeds. Once a predetermined G-force is reached and a difference in front and rear wheel speeds occurs a wheelie is identified. The system intervenes by momentarily retarding sparktiming; this allows intervention to occur within about 20 milliseconds.

ALC The Aprilia Launch Control system is a combination of ATC and AWC taking into account the bike is at a standstill. The system works in three stages: first is a 2 stage rev limiter, once set in launch mode hold the throttle wide open and the engine will rev at 9500 or 10000 rpm depending on selected level. Second the rider releases the clutch (the rider must still manage the clutch) and the bike is in motion during this stage the system is expecting wheel spin. Third once clutch is released the bike is expecting wheelies due to high acceleration G-Force. Once a gear higher than 2nd is selected the system reverts back to previous ATC and AWS setting.

AQS The Aprilia Quick Shift system allows upshifting to occur without closing the throttle or using the clutch. It works by momentarily retarding spark timing (between 60and 100 milliseconds depending rpm) thus removing the torque load from the gearbox allowing the cogs to disengage.

Aprilia Performance Ride Control is a four pillar electronics system which places more control at the fingertips of the rider than ever before. The sophisticated electronic control system manages Traction, Launch, Wheelie and Quick Shift, all of which are completely adjustable by the rider to suit conditions and preferences.

Putting more control in the hands of the rider

ADD – Aprilia Dynamic Damping is an all-new dynamic semi-active suspension control system developed and patented by Aprilia, which sets new global benchmarks for the motorcycle industry in terms of technology, efficacy and reliability. The exclusive software uses skyhook algorithms and acceleration driven damping strategies, which are the industry standards for the automotive world. This has made it possible, for the first time ever, to attain superlative levels of performance in all fork and shock absorber frequency ranges. ADD will first be equipped on the new Caponord 1200 multipurpose bike to be launched in 2013.

This is the electronic system which controls the interface between the rider, the engine and the ECU (Electronic Control Unit). This system allows for infinite design and development of the characteristics of engine management.A key feature is the Three Way Multi Map system for Road, Sport and Track on the V4’s and Rain, Sport and Touring on the Dorsoduro and Shiver provides the rider with greater control and is completely adjustable to suit conditions and preferences. This system, used in conjunction with APRC, forms the state of the art dynamic engine management system on the RSV4 / Tuono V4. This system is derived directly from MotoGP and WSBK technology and in fact shares some hardware components with Max Biaggi’s WSBK winning motorcycle!

Enhances the active SAFETY of the motorcycle and improves the braking performance under any grip conditions. Particularty under critical riding conditions such as a wet road surface or unexpected obstacles the ABS enhances correct handling and stability.
