Fr. Juan’s Flintstone Mary of Nazareth, the pruned branch by the Holy Spirit who gave life to her Son through her umbilical cord. Jesus says: You are already pruned because of

the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you.

Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine,

so, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches.

Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because

without me you can do nothing. Jn.15:5 This is my commandment:

love one another as I love you. Jn.15:12.17

Dear brethren, we begin the Month of the Blessed Mother Mary. She -the blessed one among the women- conceived by the Holy Spirit the Son of God in her womb and begot him through her umbilical cord. The Eucharist helps us embrace Jesus in our inside like Mary conceiving Him in her heart, so we in ours. Pope Francis has given a present to all, the Obligatory Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, on the Monday after Pentecost Sunday. St. Ignatius of Loyola after his conversion wrote about the presence of the Virgin Mary in his suffering and discovering of Jesus. The first contemplation of the fourth week of his Spiritual Exercises is on the risen Lord’s apparition to his Mother, though not recorded in the Gospels; the risen Lord must have first appeared to his grieving mother; so, Jesus sends his mother Mary to accompany and strengthen us. Mary appears to us to lean us to her Son, and to lead us to visit others to do good deeds. Prayer through meditations, contemplations, repetitions, New Testaments readings, the sacraments, loving obedience, and suffering in union with Christ are what keep the Christian sap flowing in our lives. Mary gives us her nutrients for our faith.

“Almighty and eternal God, you chose the Virgin Mary to be the Mother of your eternal Word. Give us strength to be servants of that

Word in the Parish of Mother of our Redeemer, which is consecrated to your glory in the presence of Mary, our Mother. Amen.”

Queridos hermanos, comenzamos el Mes de la Santísima Madre María. Ella -la bendita entre las mujeres- concibió por el Espíritu Santo al Hijo de Dios en su vientre y lo engendró a través de su cordón umbilical. La Eucaristía nos ayuda a abrazar a Jesús en nuestro interior como María concibiéndole en su corazón, y nosotros en el nuestro. Papa Francisco nos ha regalado la Memoria Obligatoria de la Virgen María, Madre de la Iglesia, el lunes tras Pentecostés. San Ignacio de Loyola tras su conversión escribió sobre la presencia de la Virgen María en su sufrimiento y descubrimiento de Jesús. La primera contemplación de la cuarta semana de sus Ejercicios Espirituales es sobre la aparición del Señor resucitado a su Madre, aunque no registrada en los Evangelios; el Señor resucitado debe haberse aparecido a su afligida madre, por lo que éste la envía para acompañarnos y fortalecernos. María se nos aparece para que nos apoyemos en su Hijo, y para guiarnos a visitar a otros para hacer buenas obras. Oración de meditaciones, contemplaciones, repeticiones, lecturas neotestamentarias, los sacramentos, la obediencia amorosa y el sufrimiento en unión con Cristo son los que mantienen la savia cristiana fluyendo en nuestras vidas. Y María nos da sus nutrientes para nuestra fe. “Dios todopoderoso y eterno, que elegiste a la Virgen María como Madre de la Palabra Eterna. Danos fortaleza para ser siervos de esa Palabra en Madre de Nuestro Redentor, que está consagrada a tu gloria en la presencia de María, nuestra Madre. Amén.”
