SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO SEMINARY

ANNUAL APPEAL Thank you to all who have made a donation or pledge to

this year’s annual appeal. For those of you who have not

contributed, please make the effort to do so. In order to

support those in formation at St. Charles Borromeo

Seminary, we need everyone to participate. Thank you!

Dear Friends,

We gather as a People called by God on this First Sunday

in Advent, to recall the Church’s long standing tradition

that Advent is a time to mark the three comings of Christ.

First is His coming as one of us, a human born of a

woman two thousand years ago. Second is His coming at

the end of time. Third is His coming into our hearts.

As we begin this Advent Season, we should prepare again

a place in our hearts for the Lord so that we, like Mary,

can bring Him into a world that sorely needs His

presence, His compassion and love.

A big thank you to Lisa Maffei who picked up the reigns

of our annual craft fair and bazaar! You have kept the

tradition going and I am proud of the way you were able

to contribute to the life of this parish.

My sincere gratitude to you all!

Faithfully,

Father Cioppi

GIVING TREE PROJECT Once again, Mother of Divine Providence

will be participating in the Giving Tree

Project to assist families in need in

Montgomery County through Catholic

Social Services. The tree will be up and

trimmed with tags in the front of the

Church. The tags will indicate the gift needed by a

particular family. Please take the tag, purchase the gift

and return the gift unwrapped with the tag attached

under the tree no later than December 11. The gifts will

be transported to Catholic Social Services during that

week. SANTA SACKS AVAILABLE FOR STUFFING Our Christmas Project for St. Veronica

School in North Philadelphia begins this

weekend. Please pick-up an empty Santa

Sack in the Church foyer this weekend

and fill the sack with age-appropriate

items for the gender and grade of the

child listed on the bag. All filled sacks

should be returned to the boxes in the

Church foyer by Sunday, December

11. Also, all donations in the poor boxes

throughout December will be given to St.

Veronica School to help provide for needed books and other

resources for the children. Thank you for your generosity

and kindness!

THANKS TO LEBUS BAKERY

We would like to offer special thanks to LeBus on

Shoemaker Road in King of Prussia for the donation of

delicious bread that we distributed after our Thanksgiving

Mass. Dolly Hall, at LeBus, facilitates this for us.

Whenever possible, please support them by buying your

breads and sweet cakes for special occasions.

DEDICATION TO THE BLESSED MOTHER On Thursday, December 8th, the Feast of

The Immaculate Conception, the youth

choir and angel choir will sing a concert of

“Mary Songs” beginning at 7:00 PM in

DAY OF SANCTIFICATION FOR PRIESTS The priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia assemble

each year for a day of prayer and refection on the Sacred

Priesthood. This year our priests will gather with

Archbishop Chaput at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary

on Monday, November 28, for the 2016 Day of

Sanctification for Priests. Please pray for all priests of the

Archdiocese, especially this weekend and Monday, with

the following prayer from the Roman Missal:

Lord our God, who is governing Your people

Make use of the ministry of Priests,

Grant to these men

A persevering obedience to Your will,

So that by their ministry and life

They may gain glory for You in Christ.

Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the

Holy Spirit,

one God, forever and ever. Amen

are back to concentrating on prayer shawls. 12x12 granny

Parishioners: Happy Holidays to all! Thanks for all your

WHERE CAN YOU HELP?

We can always use assistance in many areas of the parish.

Please check here periodically to see if there is something

that is of interest or a particular talent that you possess:

DO YOU LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN AND INTERACT

WELL WITH THEM? CAN YOU OFFER ONE WEEK

EVERY MONTH OR SO? We are in need of additional

assistance with our Children’s Liturgy of the Word which

happens during the proclamation of the Gospel each week

at 9:30 AM Mass during the school year. This volunteer

assistant must have all of their Child Abuse Clearances on

record in our office prior to volunteering. Please contact

Lauren Joyce at [email protected] for complete

details.

DO YOU LIKE TO CLIMB LADDERS WITH NO

FEAR OF HIGH PLACES? We certainly could use your

help in changing the banners in the church during our

various liturgical seasons. Please e-mail or call Susan at

[email protected] (610-265-4178) for further

information.

hesitate to contact Sister Veronica at the Parish Office –

610-265-4178.

WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEK? Here we are…November is almost over. We have been

praying all month for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

During this month, we have been praying specially for

the people who were buried from MDP during this past

year. Their pictures have been on St. Joseph Shrine all

month. It is an inspiration to me to look at those people.

They have lived good lives and now look out on us with

great hope for our prayers. It is our prayer that will help

to get them to heaven. Let us continue to pray for all the

souls as we move forward to Advent which actually

begins today. During these days of Advent, we anticipate

the celebration of Christmas and we also prepare for the

Second Coming of Jesus. Pay attention to the Sunday

readings and see how Jesus guides us during these special

days of prayer and anticipation. Happy Advent!

from the desk of Sister Veronica

PREP KID’S CORNER (TOP SECRET, NO PARENTS ALLOWED!)

Here Comes Advent!

Today begins the four weeks of Advent - four weeks to

get ready for the coming of Jesus! This week with your

family, discuss how you can live the Advent season.

This should be a time of calm and preparation, so pick a

way to create some quiet prayer time in this busy

season. Maybe on Sundays you won’t watch TV as a

family, or maybe you won’t listen to the radio in the car.

Find a way to carve out some peace and quiet… and

then make sure to say some extra prayers during that

time! Lighting your Advent wreath and reading a Bible

story is a great family activity for your prayer time…

especially the Christmas stories in Matthew 1-2 and

Luke 1-2.

Can you find it? This week in Church… we have our

Advent Wreath! This week we only light one candle…

do you know why?

WHAT IS #GIVINGTUESDAY? It is a movement, an opportunity to give just a little back

to MTC. Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71

countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since

its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving

around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer

hours, and activities that bring about real change in

communities. We invite you to join the movement and to

help get out and give back to Mother Teresa Regional

Catholic School this November 29, 2016. Just go to our

website, www.MTCschool.org, or go to our Facebook page:
