Dolina Kościeliska is a valley that extends from the foot of the Tatra Mountains to its main ridge. It is 9 km long and 27 km wide. Kościeliski Potok (a mountain brook), as well as underground layers of water, were most influential on the valley’s shape. As a result, we can now admire remarkably shaped rocks, steep walls and numerous caves.

The sawmill in Jurgowo is one of the very few sawmills powered by a waterwheel that are still in use. The water comes from a small river called Przykopa which is a distributary of Białka river.

The water flowing in Przykopa river used to power mills and power stations. Today, the only thing that still runs is the sawmill, probably because people in Jurgowo continue to occupy themselves with wood processing. The other places do not exist anymore.

Przełom Dunajca (Dunajec River Gorge) runs through the Pieniny Mountains between Sromowce Niżne and Szczawnica, and is about 8km long. The river forms a lot of meanders there and the surrounding rock reaches 300 m in height. It is one of the most beautiful river gorges in Europe. It is famous for its trail and wooden canoe trips that have been organized there for almost 200 years.
