Etymology:-

Morphology Morph (form) + ology (science of) -- > Morphology (the science of word forms) The study of the internal structure of words, and The rules by which words are formed.

What is morphology?“The branch of theoretical linguistics that deals with the structure and formation of words in a language.”

Morpheme:-Morpheme is the smallest meaningful unit that can not be further divided into other meaningful units.

EXAMPLES:-1. One morpheme:- Boy, desire, self etc.2. Two morphemes: -

Boy + ishDesire + ableSelf + ish

4. Three morphemes:-Boy + ish+ nessDesire + able + ity Self + ish + ness

3. Four morphemes:-Un + desire + able + ity

Morphemes are generally divided into

two main kinds.

Free morpheme

Bound morpheme

assistance of any other morpheme to convey

its meaning.
