Joseph Smith was confused! After

reading James 1.5, he retired to the woods to pray for wisdom. Two persons appeared. One

was evidently the Lord Jesus Christ.

in a stone box. He returned each year for 4 years and on September

22nd 1827 he was finally given the plates.

after her father refused to give consent.

The small group organised themselves into “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”

Brigham Young led the 400 wagons to “we know not where.” The Mormons arrived July 24th 1847 at Salt Lake Valley, Utah. “This is the place.”

A newspaper set up to oppose Smith was attacked

and burnt out at Smith’s order. He was arrested, but murdered in jail by a mob

of outraged citizens.
