The Christmas function is on Thursday Dec 1 st in place of our normal meeting and demonstration, see more information on page 4. We also have been very busy trying to sell enough of the ALM Calendars to make a small profit. See the report from Kennethe Bull on the calendar sales below. Also, some of our members have been successfully selling paintings in their own exhibitions. Well done everyone! Calendar Sales. Many thanks to all those members who have been busily trying to move the calendar sales along. Financial Facts: Total costs of producing the calendars is $4270.00 - sales to date has reached $1460. So members, please don't stop the selling effort just yet. Maybe we could all target those retailers that we spend with e.g. hairdressers, dentists, doctors, butchers, teachers at the school, cafes, petrol stations, pharmacy, supermarket or corner shop, nursery etc. etc. I have calculated that we still need to sell 281 calendars to make a small profit. We have 116 members..............roughly two and a half calendars each. As we are scattered all over the district this could net us a sizeable number of sales which we desperately need. WE really do need ALL MEMBERS to participate in a concentrated sales drive between now and Xmas so please put your best foot forward and SELL! SELL! SELL! SECRETARY Stephanie MacFarlane

Summary of committee Meeting Minutes for November 2016 Workshops will be limited to 20 participants - first in each meeting, no bookings taken.

Christine Raj has been booked again for 2017.

The Library borrowings and sales are steady.

Our website is becoming more visible.

14 paintings were sold at the exhibition, although opening night was disappointing, with lack of visitors.

Many members did not come which was particularly disappointing. See the newsletter for more information

about the exhibition.

As some of ALM equipment went missing from our storeroom (now located), please let Stephanie know if

you have any property at home that belongs to ALM so it can be listed and we know where it is. (library

items excepted).

Christmas meeting: see newsletter item.

Critiques: see newsletter item.

Members' Choice. In March, 2017 our members' choice exhibition will be an aptly titled ABSTRACT painting,

no larger than 1/4 w/c size. Any medium, mounted. Have some fun over the January break!

THANKS

NIGEL NECKLEN

We had a great workshop with over 20 people staying for the afternoon. All of us had a fun time and Nigel taught us so

much. We all have some new techniques and hints to try out with our

acrylic painting. Check out Nigel ‘s website at

www.necklenart.com

Our monthly critiques. (from the Committee)

It is a great opportunity for emerging artists (and aren't we all?) to be able to bring along our paintings

each month to be critiqued by our visiting demonstrator.

This segment was introduced so that people who are trying new techniques, looking at new directions,

or who are stuck and need some help in where to put the next marks, or need some constructive help

or just some encouragement are able to show their paintings and maybe find some answers.

The Committee would love to see more members take advantage of this time -not just the same brave

people who are happy to show their work, but members who are a little shy about showing their stuff!

Remember! A critique is NOT a criticism. Be brave, bring along your painting one month.

Exhibition Report: Once again, it was a great exhibition. Congratulations to everyone who entered their work. The standard was

very high, and it was particularly great to see new members entering their paintings and some were most

successful. It was disappointing however, to see that on opening night, many members did not attend. Even

if you have not entered a painting, it is great to come along and show your support for members who have,

and to bring some friends. This year’s door sales reached $550.

171 Paintings were entered by 36 Artists. Fourteen paintings were sold, and Gail Dawkins won the People's

Choice Award of $100.

Many of our members worked extremely hard, especially the Committee - thanks to all of you.

Also thanks to Maximillion and Elizabeth for those fabulous scones and muffins for morning tea, raising $242.

Sandra Robinson won Rod Bathgate's raffle painting which raised $1423 – a record amount!

A very big THANK YOU to the 4 Artists who spent all Saturday and Sunday painting and demonstrating

their work. These are Kennethe Bull, Christine Kinnane, Rob Spedding and Christine Langshaw, it adds

another dimension to our show if the public can see an artist at work.

A special thank you from the Committee to Lynne Lucas who took over the finances while Denise was

away. Lynne did a wonderful job, counted the masses of coins and everything balanced! A full financial

report for the exhibition will be produced by Denise Lombard our Treasurer, in January 2017 as there are

pending expenses still to be paid.

Some ideas for our 2017 exhibition (21st birthday) are: A musical interlude and compiling a list of the

refreshments each member is bringing (we do have heating facilities in the kitchen).

For members who have not exhibited before there are a couple of things you need to know:

All paintings need to be checked off before you take them home, otherwise those wonderful people at

the desk are worried some paintings have disappeared.

You need to have your paintings in on time, and be collected on time. If you have any ideas for our

future exhibitions, please let one of the Committee know or join the Committee yourself.

December Xmas Celebration 2016

This will be held on Thursday 1st December at the Cooranbong Memorial Hall 10.30am to

12.30am. No charge this meeting, also there will be no artist demonstration.

Please bring a plate to share for morning tea. Tea, coffee and punch will be provided.

Please bring along a painting and an easel to display it. A prize will go the painting which

members vote their favourite.

John England and maybe some others will talk about their painting trip to Europe this year,

and Belinda Biggs will tell us about the next one she is planning for 2017.

Our newsletter Editor, Chris Jacob, has organised a $100 voucher from Eckersley's as a

prize for one of our members who have contributed to the newsletter in 2016. We all love

hearing about someone else's studio, or the mess they get in when they paint, or how they

organised themselves. So, in 2017, we hope everyone will contribute. I hope Chris puts her

own name in the hat, because she has contributed huge amounts to the newsletter, as well as

putting it all together and editing it, and on top of managing our website, which is getting

stronger and stronger. From Stephanie

“VISIT MY STUDIO” - send me some photos of your art set-up – you may have part of

a kitchen table or you may have a custom build studio! All 2016 contributors names have

been entered into a major lucky draw prize to be announced at the xmas function
