The Big Shift
Architecting Your Future Some estimate it takes close to 20 years for a ground-breaking idea to be accepted and acted upon by most organizations. Nancy’s mission is to shorten that gap, acceler-ating the adoption of bold ideas and keeping extraordinary leaders at the head of the curve. How well you can answer each of these questions will determine the future success for your organization: What are the key shifts transforming society? What does the future need and expect from each of us? What are you in a unique position to create and contribute to it? What are tangible ways to make this possible? What does leadership look like in the new economy? Knowing that society is transforming is one thing; knowing what to do, and how to do it right now as leaders is the true test, one that very few futurists can tackle for you. As a guide Nancy helps leaders target the most critical issues that you can take action on immediately. She will help you both understand and build the future that you want.
Worksite Wellness Best Practices
This panel will share strategies that WorkWell KS worksites across the state are using to positively impact health and their business. Hear from worksites that are implementing comprehensive wellness plans, the strategies that are having the biggest impacts and how they overcame hurdles to create a work environment and culture that promotes health.
Pathways: Improving Qualityof Life for Kansans
Pathways to a Healthy Kansas is a major community grant program that provides community coali-tions with the tools and resources needed to remove barriers and engage their communities in ways that enable healthy eating and tobacco-free, active living to become a way of life. A total of 16 community coalitions have been awarded a $100,000 coordination grant, along with technical assistance and support, and each community has the opportunity to receive implementation and achievement grants of up to$400,000 per community. These coalitions are working within their communities on the Pathways focus areas of community policy, resident/community well-being, the food retail sector, health care, restaurants, schools and worksites. In this breakout you will hear from a panel of community coordinators about how they are leveraging the Pathways grants to build collaborative partnerships and create a healthier future in their communities.
Building Healthier Food Systems
You can prepare your community for the future by creating laws and policies that foster a thriving local food system that will benefit all residents. Examples of exciting work occurring all over the country can easily be accessed and then tailored to your city or county. Learn about new local and national resources including The Healthy Food Policy Project which identifies and elevates local laws that seek to promote access to healthy food, contribute to strong local economies, and improve health equity.
RIFF: Building an Empowering Framework of the Future (Nancy Giordano)
As we consider all the changes the future will bring, we often put folks into camps of naïve optimists vs doomsday pessimists… but the implications are much more nuanced. Many things may truly excite us at the same time others create justifiable fear. So join us as we explore the future in four dimensions, and use this understanding to see what you are uniquely motivated to learn, do, and/or create as a result
