Get your sleep on Oct. 23.
The following week will be one to remember for those on Buffalo’sentrepreneurship/startup scene, culminating in the finalist presentations andawards ceremony for 43North on Oct. 30.
The week will begin with Buffalo Startup Weekend, starting Oct. 24 at d!g on theBuffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The three-day event, held in cities around thecountry, is designed as a crash course in startup businesses. But in Buffalo, atleast, it’s become something more.
A number of businesses that found their first vetting at local Startup Weekends --including, recently, Handstack and Heads Up -- are now into beta testing andfundraising. And even in tech’s event-centric culture, Startup Weekends bringtogether a rare variety of stakeholders.
On Oct. 25, the Whitespace Code and Design Camp will feature a full-day sessionhelping beginners learn the basics of web programming.
A networking event, Buffalo Startup Scramble, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. onOct. 28 at various venues on Allen Street.
A forum, “The Wild West of Equity-Based Crowdfunding,” will be hosted from 1 to2:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the University at Buffalo’s Center of Excellence inBioinformatics and Life Sciences on the medical campus.
Also on Oct. 29, a meetup hosted by Bright Buffalo Niagara will welcome any of43North’s 113 semifinalist companies to network with venture capitalists andangel investors. The event will be held at the University at Buffalo’s Clinical and
Translational Research Center on the medical campus.
Finally, 43North’s ultimate event will be held at Shea’s Performing Arts Center at646 Main St. Pitches will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m., with anawards ceremony and cocktail reception from 6 to 9 p.m., also at Shea’s.
