Our StoryHello! We're Megan and Chris. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us and our family.

We met each other while working together during college. While just friends for some time, our relationship began to grow into something more as we shared a common faith and a love of theology, education, min-istry, and coffee. Chris took a bit longer to warm up to the idea of dating, but less than a year after dating we were engaged. Four months later, in 2013 we were married.

That same year, we moved out to Denver to pursue graduate education before returning back to Indiana in 2017 when our first daughter, Annette, was about one-year-old. We then had our sons, Abraham and Castiel, while also becoming licensed foster parents caring for a number of other children in our home. While we had initially anticipated adopting through foster care, things never happen the way you think they will, and our path has shifted in another direction to grow our family.

Our greatest priority is our faith, and we seek to love God and love others well and instill this in the hearts of our children. Our faith impacts every aspect of our family life, from our parenting style to our daily rhythms, and we look forward to welcom-ing another little one into this house full of love, joy, and faith.

Meet Megan by ChrisMegan has a huge heart for other people and feels deeply. She is also determined. She must do everything with excellence. These traits—her huge heart and her determination—make her a force to be reckoned with in everything that she does. Her heart and determination, fueled by empathy, lead her to seek justice for the hurting people in the world.

These traits also make Megan an excellent mother. She acknowledges the importance of her children's thoughts and feelings and seeks to guide them gently as little ones made in the image of God, deserving of respect. She also models to our children how to treat others the same. Her example has made me a better person.

Megan enjoys the little things in life – candy bars, fizzy drinks, salads, and bubble baths. She's a librarian and a researcher. There isn't a thing that she hasn't researched before doing it. When she decides to do something, she can't rest until it is finished. This often means nights of research followed by decisive action. Whether it's researching new homeschool material or researching for a solution to a problem, I know that Megan's on the case. Her determination and skill help us solve any problems, but her determination and heart help us remember that loving people matters most.

Meet Chris by MeganFrom the moment I first saw him, I knew Chris was a world changer. He's confident, smart, funny, outgoing, and most importantly, kind. He loves God, he loves others, and he desires to lead people.

As a friend, Chris is caring and vulnerable. As a pastor, he's a strong leader, compassionate to those he serves, and wise and intentional in his teaching. As a dad, he's the world to our children. He guides them, teaches them, reads to them, cares for them, plays with them, and truly loves them. As a husband, he's my rock. He knows me better than anyone else in the world, flaws and all, and he loves me unconditionally.

One thing I love about Chris is how determined he is and open to learning new things. He's always up for a new task or a new challenge. He loves to read, listen to podcasts, drink lots of coffee, watch and play baseball, and most recently, he has taken an interest in chess. He also enjoys music. He can play guitar and piano, and he hopes to pass this love of music on to his children.

Meet the Big SiblingsBeing parents to our three children is truly a gift. We love watching them grow and learn and seeing how their unique personalities are developing. Their sibling relationship is also amazing to witness, and we know they will be so excited for another little one to join the pack.

Our oldest, Annette (4), is a typical first born—outgoing, strong, and determined. She's also very kind and empathetic. She feels deeply for herself and also for others. She also is a mama at heart and loves caring for her baby brothers. She makes all of us laugh and spends lots of time on arts and crafts. She loves books and is already learning to read. She also loves dancing and gymnastics. She's

a great big sis who is excited about another baby in the family.

Abraham (almost 3) is our wild one, always full of energy, and definitely keeps us on our toes. He loves running, climbing, driving his gator, and playing with his big sis. He's also one that when he loves something, he goes all in. His current favorites are farm equipment, tools, and dinosaurs.

Castiel (1) is our youngest. He is incredibly sweet, laid back, and happy all of the time. He loves exploring, hanging with mama, watching his big brother and sis, and eating just about anything. He's been such a joy, and we know he'll make such a great big brother.

Our Home

We live in a 100-year-old, brick home located across from our church. It's surrounded by corn fields and soybeans, although we do have some neighbors nearby. It's incredibly peaceful, and our kids love exploring nature outside. Even though we live in the country, we are only a ten-minute drive from town and family/friends, and are just 30 minutes away from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

One of Annette and Abraham's favorite activities is to go bug hunting. Abraham in particular also loves to watch all the farm equipment during the planting and harvest seasons, and one of his first words was “Baba” (combine). We have a fenced-in yard with a swing set and trampoline. We also have a garden we attempt to cultivate, although we need to work on developing more of a green thumb.

We spend most of our time on the main floor of our house. We have a fun little playroom off the living room, and a big table in our dining room that we use for homeschooling, crafts, games, etc. We share our home with our two-year-old dog, Atlas, who is a German Shepherd/Lab/Boxer mix. He's incredibly well-trained, and he does so well with the kids! We also have a number of cats, both indoor and outdoor, and two hermit crabs that the kids named Sparkles and Lightning McQueen.

We have a big dining room table, a cozy living room, and a piano. We also keep pictures up just about everywhere.

Our FamilyWe are grateful to have nearly all of our close family on both sides nearby. We enjoy cousin zoo trips all summer long, cook-outs and campfires on Sunday afternoons, lake days with Christopher's side of the family, and regular cousin play dates. We also are grateful to have amazing friends that not only invest in us and love us well, but they also invest and love our children well.

The holidays are always filled with a lot of fun, games, and laughter. On Chris's side, we have a big Christ-mas Eve celebration that includes homemade tacos, a family Christ-mas program of readings and songs, and gift exchanges. On Megan's side, we always visit the tree farm on Thanksgiving weekend.

Our families and friends have always been so supportive of us and our children, as well as our adoption journey. Everybody is excited to have another little babe to love and join in on all the fun we have together.

Things We EnjoyAs a family, we love to be outdoors. We visit the park often, take walks down our country road or along the river in town, and enjoy seasonal activities like visiting the apple orchard every year and regular zoo trips. As a homeschool family with a lot of flexibility, we also look forward to more family traveling in the future and cross-country sightseeing.

Megan loves cooking, and the kids enjoy helping. Megan is a vegetarian, although the rest of the family is not, and she loves experimenting with new plant-based meals for the whole family to enjoy. As a family, we also are trying to learn to garden and grow more of our own foods.

We enjoy pursuing our children's interests and giftings too. Right now, Annette is involved in ballet and gymnastics. We have also done swim lessons with all the kids, and have enjoyed camping in the past. We hope to do more of that in the future!

We love to take family walks.

If chosen as adoptive parents, we promise you that your child will be so very loved in our family. We will seek to raise him or her in the love and knowledge of Christ and with a deep desire to love God and love others well. You can also be assured your baby will receive a never-ending supply of hugs and kisses from their big brothers and sister.

Please know that we would love to maintain a level of openness moving for-ward if you desire. However, if you decide you would prefer a closed adoption, please know we will always be open and transparent with the child about his or her first mama and the amazing start at life he or she was selflessly given.
