English – Creative writing! Below art two pictures of Japan, the first in busy Tokyo and the

other of the serene Daigoji temple in Kyoto.

Your task is to use your senses to describe both of these very different places.

When describing both of these place you may want to close your eyes to begin and ‘walk the room’ like we have in class to imagine

yourself there, think about:

- Senses - What you can feel, taste, hear, smell and see. What does it feel like underfoot? What does it smell like? What can you

hear? What can you see? Use colour to be specific.

- Alliteration – busy bustling of bodies

- Simile – The rustling leaves hummed like a lullaby.

- Metaphor – Vast and unapologetic, the sea of people drowned me.

- Personification – The temple sat poised and proud, a beacon of relaxtion and calm.
