In Kensuke’s Kingdom we are only given a simplistic sketch and very short description of Kensuke’s appearance when Michael first

meets him on the island. Your writing task it to use that short description and your imagination to draw and describe Kensuke. You may

When describing both of these place you may want to close your eyes to begin and ‘walk the room’ like we have in class to imagine

yourself there, think about:

- Senses - What you can feel, taste, hear, smell and see. What does it feel like underfoot? What does it smell like? What can you

hear? What can you see? Use colour to be specific.

- Alliteration – busy bustling of bodies

- Simile – The rustling leaves hummed like a lullaby.

- Metaphor – Vast and unapologetic, the sea of people drowned me.

- Personification – The temple sat poised and proud, a beacon of relaxtion and calm.
