We present to you Moreporks Summer 2016 collection “Pride of the South”

For Summer 16 we take you on a tour of the history and heritage of New Zealand’s southern most city, Dunedin.

Home to one of New Zealand’s earliest commercial ports and also the access point for the South Island gold rush, this city attracted gold miners, traders and seamen from all over the world along with work-ers from surrounding industry’s.

Referencing the multitude of different workers that were prevalent in the gold rush era, we inject denim and linen and in multiple shades and degrees of wear into the collection.

Heritage style sporting reference’s from the early establishment of golf, rugby and yachting clubs.

Special local wildlife has been touched on also, salmon themed items for the large stock of saltwater salmon in the waters and yellow-eyed penguin’s, which are a native, endangered penguin.

Added to that, our new range original logo print t-shirts, in a range of colourway’s that synchronise with the colour’s of the sports teams of the area.

Ralph Hotere is widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s most prominent modern artists. From 1971 he was based out of his home studio in Port Chalmers, Dunedin. His series of artworks surrounding the proposed building of an aluminium smelter in Aramoana, a short distance from Port Chalmers, remain to this day some of his most controversial and sought after artworks.
