At the core of Georgia 4-H, and critical to the success of our Evans County 4-H youth, are volunteers who give their time and talents to grow 4-H’ers. These volunteers serve in a number of capacities: some choose to help at camp, teach a workshop or lead a special-interest group, while others chaperone an event, lend their professional skills or help at the fair. As they provide hands-on guidance and real-world experience, these volunteers also offer young people another crucially important element: a healthy adult role model who helps to grow their confidence and ignite their dreams for the future. 4‐H’ers have the                                   opportunity to plan, prepare, and                   

deliver presenta ons on topics of their               choice for monthly “4‐H Spirit” points.               

Encouraging your child to par cipate in this fun ac vity will help your child to                    improve their research, public                       speaking, and organiza onal                        

skills.  

Once a month,                                       a staff member from the                      

4‐H office will come to your child’s classroom and conduct a  “4‐H Class Mee ng” and                           educa onal program at                          

par cipa ng                              schools.  

Each 4‐H class elects                                        officers during the October mee ng.                          Officer posi ons include a president,                          

vice‐president,  secretary, reporter and                        parliamentarian.  This process helps youth to learn             the importance of parliamentary procedure.  If your child is elected as an officer, he/she will be invited             to a end an officer training workshop.  As a class 

officer, he/she will learn the importance of                    leadership, teamwork, and responsibility                      

throughout the year.  

4-H’ers are 2.8X more likely to make

healthy choices.

4-H membership is FREE of charge.

A part of the University of Georgia

College of Agricultural and Environmental

Sciences. As part of the educational system of

Georgia, 4-H is university approved and

research based.

A youth development program for

youth ages 9-19.

Students in grades 4-6 Students in grades 5-6, enroll in the Evans County 4-H Program during in-school 4-H meetings if offered through the child’s

school. For students in grades 4-6 who do not have meetings in their classes, parents may stop by the 4-H office and fill out an

enrollment card to register their child.

CMS Students (7th & 8th grade)

Attend call-out meeting at their school each month to learn about

upcoming 4-H opportunities. May also attend the Teen

Evolution Meeting held for all 7-12 grade 4-H’er.s

All Students in grades 7-12 Attend a monthly evening Teen Evolution Meeting

held at the 4-H office to learn more about events and

opportunities.

The goals of the 4-H program are to help young people:

Develop initiative and assume responsibility

Develop leadership and be of service to others

Develop the ability to live and work cooperatively with others

Acquire knowledge and skills and explore careers

Achieve satisfaction from work and accomplishments

Develop positive self images

4-H’ers are 2X more likely to stay

civically active.

4-H’ers are 2.3X more

likely to exercise.

The Georgia graduation rate is 68%, the 4-H high school

graduation rate is 91%.

4-H’ers are

4X more likely to contribute

to their communities.

4‐H’ers may also par cipate                                  in 4‐H ac vi es outside of their 4‐H class                       

mee ngs.  Each month, your child will receive                  a 4‐H newsle er that will highlight upcoming events 

that your child may wish to take part in.  It is                   important to review this newsle er with your                  child at home and talk about par cipa ng                     

in events that interest them. The above chart represents a breakdown of the 149 activities that the Evans County 4-H Program hosted during the 2015-2016 4-H year.

Homeschool Students (4th –12th grade) Attend a monthly meeting at the 4-H office. The meeting

schedule is on our website. Homeschool 4-H’ers in grade 7-12 are also welcome to attend the monthly Teen Evolution

Meetings.
