I'm an American car only kind of guy myself. I will not own a Japanese car, although my

head was turned by the Nissan GT-R I have to admit... I came really close on that one.

I typically go for high horsepower, but my most recent purchase was based on a balance of

power and COMFORT. I traded a heavily modified SRT8 Magnum (620hp) for the Challenger

SRT8 and love it totally. When stock, it's still a fairly quick car, but now as I modify it, she is

really waking up. But I won't be going too wild with this one. "Power" came in my 08 GT500

that I've modified nicely, and it's a little scary for some folks. With the Challenger I get

things I can't get in other cars I've looked at. All voice controlled (Sirius radio/30 gig HDD,

Bluetooth, etc), touchscreen controls, NAV, heated power seats, 4 wheel Brembo brakes

and so on. Most cars with power don't include creature comforts that I want. You choose

power or luxury, you rarely get BOTH for under $75k or so.

I used to be a Vette guy (owned a 62 and an 89) but once they put out the C4 and C5

wrecks... I lost interest. Even friends at the Corvette forum I'm still on hate those things...

they turned into rattle traps quickly and the interiors are pieced together from various GM

vehicles including TRUCKS. Shame. By the time the C6 came around (darn near perfection

IMO), I already had my son and needed a back seat. I am a huge fan of the C6 models

including the Z06 of course.

My wife and I looked at the new CTS-V and I really loved it, but something has just told me

not to buy one yet. I still feel it pulling at me, and I still may do it. I tend to buy a new car

every year, so we'll see what happens.

I was also VERY impressed by the Audi S5. I liked it a lot, but I'm just not an import kind of

guy. While I respect BMW and Audi, they just don't "fit" with me, I'm just more of an

Amrican mucle car kind of guy. I think I might look or even feel a but pretentious driving

one of those... at least at 36. Maybe once I hit 40 or older I might change my tune.

Wow! Jim you are quite the collector of cars as well. I think you should buy your wife the

cadillac cts-v. That's a real classey car. I too have seen the Audi and love its design ( the

headlights are really cool). You should not feel pretentious driving one of those. I drive an

expensive german car and anyone who knows me would tell you that I am one of the most

'down to earth", friendliest people on the planet. I do like muscle cars too, however, I've

never owned one. With all that horsepower you have you must become imbedded into the

seat when you accellerate. It must feel like your driving a rocket I would imagine. I'm sure

you must turn a lot of heads and make a lot of squirrels into pancakes too.

lol, yes they can be fun. I enjoy the aspect of customizing them the most.

The wife prefers SUV's, especially due to our winters here. She's about ready to get a new

one and we're waiting out and hoping that the newly redesigned Grand Cherokee will be put

out in an SRT8 version, there is no official word yet on that, just speculation.

I want a "toy" again, and I'm tossed up between getting my first motorcycle, and going back

to a Vette. After my bad experiences with the 89 (like I said... avoid C4 and C5 Vettes) it's

been hard to know how they will be in the long run, but the friends I have that own C6's

don't have any complaints... so I am tempted. I love bikes, but our roads here are not the

best, winters tear them up badly; and the drivers are scary enough when you're in a car...

so I just don't know.

The CTS-V is amazing, it's practical being a 4 door sedan, and it takes very few mods to

make it ferocious. Unless something unexpected comes out that is superior, which I doubt, it

might be my next purchase.

Don't think that I'm saying those who drive a Euro are pretentious... I believe I personally

might feel like it though because it's just not my style, at least not yet. I have great respect

for what they've achieved, I'm just a simpler guy I suppose.

Well Jim since you like motorcycles do you think you'll buy a Harley? The customizing

possibilities is endless on them as you know. I had a boyfriend who owned a fatboy and he

was constantly buying parts to customize it . It was a lot of fun riding with him and of

course, me being "miss fashion", had to get this really hot harley davidson outfit.(lol)to

match his bike.

On another topic, I do like the new Grand Cherokee as well. It seems to have a more

aggressive look which I think it definitely needed. It looks like it could some serious trail

blazing and if the roads are lousy where you are it would be perfect. I own a 4matic since

the roads in Rhode Island are HORRIBLE and we do get a good amount of snow which I hate

so I completely understand.
