ELCOME TO OUR CONFERENCE CHALLENGES IN OB/GYN: PEARLS FOR PRACTICE

This is the second year of our expanded annual conference from the University of Illinois Department of Obstetrics and

Gynecology. We have invited several nationally and internationally-recognized faculty to give state-of-the-art lectures on such topics as surgical controversies in gynecology, surgical vs. medical treatment of endometriosis, evidence-based VBAC decision making, and management of adnexal masses.

Several of our UIC faculty are offering “pearls for practice” in their areas of expertise, including surgical management of obese patients, challenging infertility cases, preterm labor assessment, care issues following gynecologic cancer treatment, and many more.

As in years past, we are pleased to host the 9th Annual Antonio Scommegna, MD Symposium and the 14th Annual Laird Wilson Jr, PhD Symposium. We are proud to continue honoring these two extraordinary clinician-scientists whose careers were committed to improving women’s reproductive and obstetrical care.

Dr. Barbara Levy will give the Charles Sumner Bacon, MD Lecture in the Gynecology Symposium. Dr. Bacon was our first Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and was instrumental in the University of Illinois’ acquisition of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1913, resulting in the establishment of the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

We invite you to attend our Alumni & Friends of UIC OB/Gyn reception on Thursday, October 30th following the afternoon lectures. Our Department is actively involved in global health initiatives and research in Kenya, South Africa, Guyana, India, New Zealand, and Ghana. Our faculty will share some of their exciting and important work at this reception - don’t miss it!

I look forward to reuniting with colleagues, friends, and providers from throughout the state and beyond, and especially meeting with UIC alumni.

Mark your calendars, register online, and see you soon!
